We will probably do that. It seems to be an issue of how I said it. I will admit especially with her family I have a short fuse that I need to work on.

I can identify with the short fuse aspect.

PapaLew goes to his mom's for dinner every Wednesday night...and does chores around her place. It's about a 40 minute drive each way, and that happens to be the night I have bell choir rehearsals, so no biggee. His mom & I are oil & water, and his sister who is also there every week does more to exacerbate things than smooth them over.

I go to big family type parties, but things kind of came to a head a couple of years ago when I blew up at them at our place (whole different story). So they rarely come up here, and I only go down there when there are more people to create a buffer zone. Otherwise, I spend two-three hours being pointedly ignored while my husband does chores for them. No thanks.

I about had a "completely losing my ****" moment this weekend. My daughter had a soccer tourney. One of the teams had this really mean little girl that used to play on our team. And I stress mean (physically as well as verbally). She was actually kicked off our team when all the girls on our team basically threatened to quit if she was still going to be there.

Anyway, while I was setting up the bench for our girls before the game, this girl walked up to little Cooler as she was getting her ball out of her bag, pushes my daughter to the ground and says, "I don't care about you or your team." My daughter looks at me with a WTF look on her face. I'm shocked, but I try to do the parent thing and tell her to just play your game and don't worry about her, even though I sorta wanted to give the girl a grass stain on her face.

Opening series: they have the ball. My daughter, puts an outstanding tackle (legal, mind you) on this girl sending her to the ground in a pile. A smile splits my face in half. This girl gets visibly ******, runs straight at my daughter and punches her (closed fist) in the middle of the back.

My daughter falls to the ground, grabs her back, and starts crying. The refs never see it so nothing gets called, but every parent had a clear view of what happened. Our parents are going bonkers, and I was about as close as I have ever been about making a REALLY REALLY big scene.

Our coach shouts at the refs and walks out onto the field to get my daughter before the play gets stopped. I went around to check on her after she got back to the sideline. She was crying, but wanted to tough it out.

This morning, I check her back and there, in the middle of her back, is a fist sized welt and bruise. It gets hard to try to teach your kid values and fair play when they have to encounter **** like that at 8 years old. I can guarantee you that if my kid ever pulled something like that, I would walk out in the middle of the game and drag her *** off the field.

We are civil and get along for the most part but there are things mostly with her siblings that just drive me bonkers. There are things they do that my wife can't stand mostly due to a lack of responsibility/maturity.

My issues with them revolve around how they were never taught much about money. Mostly because they never had any.

That is straight up assault.

where the **** are that little *****'s parents? I think this is one of those times I'd become an obnoxious parent sending pics of the bruise to whomever is in charge of stuff and trying to get that little **** kicked out of the league.

I do a really good job keeping my head during normal hard fouls during the course of the game because there is still a lot of awkward at this age. But that one tested me big time. The fact that everyone knew how mean she was beforehand sure didn't help.

I would have gone to her parents, but nothing good was going to happen if I did. Her parents are part of the problem. When she was on our team, there would be times where the coach would be yelling for her to pass or do a skill and they would be yelling at her to just go and score. My dislike of that family runs pretty deep. They are pretty much everything that is wrong with youth sports.

Was someone video taping this game? Refs never see ****.

What's funny is that I almost video taped the game because my daughter asked me to get some video. She said she was going to do some "highlight reel moves" (her words, not mine). But I talked myself out of it because I want to enjoy watching her play, rather than watching the game through a screen.

I guarantee that if we face them again that I will record the match in case I need evidence.

how many "enhancements" can you spot?

Cooler--that really bites. Being a "mean" girl (especially at that age) is not acceptable, the physical stuff pushes it into a whole other realm. And of course it starts with the parents, so you are stuck. :(

Thankfully we haven't run into too much of that. It scares me, though, especially when our daughter is catching. Some girls come into home trying to take out the catcher and now that metal cleats are involved I envision some potentially bad injuries. But flat out targeting and injuring with a non-sports action should be grounds for banning.

I'd have told my daughter to punch her in the face.
