Going after all of these guard/wings, the staff must like what they see with Simeon Carter.

I think they are high on Carter, but I'm not totally convinced they feel great about our returning guards if Morris leaves

Could be. Either way, Prohm's self proclaimed strategy has shifted a little bit. Or at least appears to be shifting.

He may still want to snag a transfer big man late.

Again. This approach is more likely due to good guards being available as opposed to forwards. We need a bunch of guards 2017 forward so getting them early is a bonus.

I doubt that. There are good bigs to be had. The staff is choosing to focus on guards right now. Agree to disagree.

I agree there are some good bigs still available like Adrio Bailey. I had meant to say there were proportionally more good guards available at this point. I would think we are still on a few forwards, but just works out that more guards are available so the news might be skewed toward guard recruitment.

You may have a different perspective if you had a scout membership. Alex has some good insight here on exact what the coaches intend to do and why.

I keep seeing comments like this and I am not sure how people make these jumps. Our 2016 roster as of today without Morris would be:
PG JR Jackson
SG SR Thomas
CG JR Cooke, FR Long
Wing SR Burton, SO Babb
Forwards SO Ernst, SO Carter, FR Young, JR Malou

That is six guards for three positions and four forwards for 2 positions. Same ratio of players per position, but far more upperclass guards. We need one more guard, one more big man and then the best transfer we could get IMO. We had big men targets in Cook, Horne, etc and they all went elsewhere. We may be looking at a JC big man or two but there is no other legit prep big men targets on our current radar that would be anything other than a reach that I have seen. Prohm has a good core and can afford to be selective. If a good guard is available, you take them. If there are no good bigs on our radar that we can get, you wait.

It isn't just about numbers, it is about who can play at a high enough level to contribute. And you agreed with my point by penciling Carter into your rotation. You also included Ernst. I hope he is more than a practice squad player.

Don't take my original sentiment as a negative. It is a really good thing if Carter can play.

I have no clue about Ernst's playing ability but he looks quite thick for an incoming freshman from the media day videos

It will be very interesting to see if Ernst can develop into a solid rotation player. I agree he looks the part. And I don't think he's unathletic either.
