Dreaming Time: North Endzone

Honestly we probably dont see many seats added for a long time.

This project makes sense because 3000 of the seats are premium. Is there demand for another couple thousand of those? No. Similarly you wouldnt do a 3rd deck as those seats also would be fairly worthless. Plus i imagine any NEZ project would be much more expensive with needing 1- demolition of a much larger existing structure, 2- replacement of that facility, 3- whatever new seating\club section youre adding. If you think it took long to do the SEZ, it'll be longer for this.

As far as press box goes... everyone says it, but there are a lot of obstacles to that. Firstly, how do you support it? You cant just hang it off the existing one, and the place where supports would go for additional sections of that now has concessions buildings there. And again, is there demand? We have a smaller press box, but we make up for that by having a nice slate of suites (which are what 'press boxes' really are these days) in between the decks.

I know for a fact that from a media standpoint the pressbox is subpar. In terms of demand for more suites I can't speak to that.

There is nothing wrong with the exterior of JTS. Reiman Gardens should not only be expanded to the south entrance, but around the entire stadium. That would be cool.

I would like to see money spent on either replacing or painting the faded bleachers. Those things have been faded to pink and mildly dehydrated urine colors for as long as I can remember.

Based on what JP said in his interview with CW and with all the marketing efforts towards younger fans I would imagine they would like to keep the "family friendly" atmosphere for football games. A big part of this is having the hillsides open to the Jr. Cyclone Club kids and their parents in the North End Zone. I just don't see JP or the athletic department wanting to get rid of those hillsides any time in the near future, there are other more important projects to take care of.

Am I wrong to get a little miffed about this thread?

The excitement about the new stadium is almost too much for me to handle! I don't even want to think about something else right now . . . at least until after the first game.

Also, one of the vastly overlooked features of the new south endzone is what it looks like from the main tailgate lots north of the stadium. Previously, you just saw the back of the first videoboard. Now, you see these massive stands in the SE and SW corners. And if you are close and have the right angle, you can see the new videoboard. This is going to add a lot to the tailgate experience north of the stadium.

When you drive along Center Drive and see those stands, it is breath-taking.

Maybe so, but making things a little more cushy for the media doesnt generate us any revenue.

So what would capacity be for something like this? Close to 70K?

There is probably like 5K in the NEZ now with GA/Band seating. So you are talking about maybe adding another 7 k which would be just short of 70k.

at that point you should probably just put the video board above the upper deck and make it continue across.
Shoot for that 71k mark to make sure you are the biggest in the state.
But with the 100 yard suites you added probably added at least 2K there so who knows.

With in 10 years ISU's students will be over 40K. expand the students and give them the whole north endzone. would be crazy

of course we would have to have a 8+ winning average winning season for 10 years for this to happen. otherwise this is just LSD talk

While I don't expect this to happen any time soon. They could still keep the family friendly atmosphere for the games and bowl in the lower level. A lower level bowl would also give the team a "REAL" tunnel to run out of on to the field instead of the tacky blow-up bouncy house looking thing.

How about this? :D

One idea I had was to duplicate the South Endzone in the North Endzone, but keep a space for grass hillsides, to preserve that tradition.
