Random Thoughts IV

My mom didn't even come down to help me move in. She said she'd do that or pay my cell phone bill while down there (back then 19.99 a month). I don't think she even came to Ames for the first time until my first spring down there.

I didn't have a car so she and my brother helped me move in the first year and out the second year. And graduation. They came out the first fall for a concert, but I think the total non-moving visits was.....two concerts, one banquet, graduation? Plus two moves outside of graduation. So that's what, six visits in four years? My dad was only at two of those, I believe. I can't remember if they came both jr and sr years for banquet. I know they did for jr. because that was right after DH and I got engaged. Think it was only BFF's parents there senior year.

Moving out of Freddy jr year was fun - eeeeeeeeeeeeeverything had to fit into my 2-door Celica. And it did!

I legit lived two blocks from that Nick for five years. I knew he was from here but never realized he was right there. I've probably gone running right by that house. Man, I could have done some scouting!

Arroz con gandyles and m

What is the reddish sauce (looks like tomato soup kind of) By the way it all looked yummy. I'd clean up those leftovers in no time flat.

it's a nice house with a basketball court in the backyard. I'm not in on the local gossip yet so I hadn't heard anything about him. Kinda surprising because two coworkers have/had kids very involved in local sports - one at SP where Nick went. They know I went to (and talk about) ISU so I would have thought if there was known stuff, they would have been like hey, I see your school is recruiting an SP kid.

Just realized one of the suspects in the Pokemon attack worked at the north Fareway here. I am in there at least three times a week so saw him often. He took my groceries out a week or so ago.

How the heck can people survive at college without a car?!

You walk.

A LOT. :)

Pullman didn't have a bus system like CyRide. I lived in a dorm, and had a full meal plan. A large percentage of the students at WSU were from the Seattle area, so there was a "rider board" where you could put your dates & destination, how many passengers you would take, and how much for gas....that's how a lot of us got home for random weekends. For major breaks (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Winter & Spring) they chartered Trailways buses that went from Pullman to Seattle's bus depot, and your family picked you up there.

Lemme tell ya, it was better than taking the horse & buggy... ;)

Thanks! That is just the dipping sauce for my plantains. Between three of us, we downed 6 pieces of chicken. Only 2 left for tomorrow. I have to make sure to prepare more next time.
