What is the point of having a "family doctor" if you have enough to make appointments with them days if not weeks on advance to get in. Get sick? Off to urgent care. We are not sick but we debated taking our son in because he was coughing a lot for a few days and that is what my wife was told.

Yeah, sounds like you need a new family doctor. Ours is an independent office, but affiliated with Iowa City's Mercy system. They were scheduling school physicals like 6 weeks out, but I'm pretty sure if we called and said a what...3-4 month old was coughing a lot, we'd be able to get in within a few days. I think some of the clinics more closely affiliated with a hospital (like, it's part of the hospital system) may tend to lean on the urgent care places to handle the routine stuff, but I like our doctor knowing most/all of our kiddos' histories.

Speaking of which, since our regular doctor was scheduling that far out, we tried a closer place to see if maybe we should switch...oh hell to the no's...they got my wife's records, rather than my son's, they had the wrong shots ready, so he had to go back, and the visit summary came back with some other patient's notes on it (said that he talked to my wife about her ex-husband taking the 5 year old for chiropractic adjustments and how he advised them it's not recommended) She called the office and said they need to correct it, and the doctor called back to talk about it, she was gone, so he asked for her, and I said "This is her husband, Joe's dad" he was all 'uhhh, yeah, I guess I put on there about her ex-husband, and clearly that's not right...' We just got the last paperwork we needed from them, so that'll be our last interaction with those jokers.

Our morning shift cop is either at his house, the gas station flirting with the attendant, or the next apartment building over talking with some old guy. Can't remember the last time I saw him do actual police work

Exactly! We both grew up with doctors in the St. Lukes/Iowa Health/ Whatever they call themselves this year system that were great. Looking back to before we went to college it is now apparent how they were starting to add work load to the Docs. For that reason we were told to go the Mercy route only to now find out they are the same way.

We have decided to start looking for a new doctor.

Due to the additional regulations and workload, lots of doctors are looking to get out of practicing at this time. I would suspect that if relations with Cuba continue to warm that we will begin seeing Cuban doctors popping up around this country. I've heard that there are too many doctors in Cuba and they are actually paid less than cab drivers (due to the fact that cab drivers get Euros and Dollars while doctors are paid in Cuban money).

Still have 9 more days until half the crew goes back to school. Today was slow because it was rainy (no pool time) and I had to kill time at a 3hr Dr appointment for one of the kids. Otherwise haven't even been on CF much this summer.

I could outrun him walking backwards blindfolded

Well, at least you aren't like a small town near where I grew up...I was pretty young at the time, next town over, the town cop was chasing a raccoon, shot at it in the HS parking lot, ricochets went into portable classrooms that had students in them. No one was hurt, thankfully.
