anyone been to Pike's Peak state park? Thinking about doing that Sunday after a wedding in the area. DH is not on board yet. Probably cause I told him it will be 87. But then I said we could do lunch somewhere and maybe stop at Botham on the way back. Been meaning to stop there sometime and try wines plus it looks pretty.

hiking and wine, we're practically like an empty-nester couple already!

00, I'm with Pants on this decision. You do yourself a disservice by not keeping your options open. The fact that not seeing your kid is bothering you before it happens tells me that you already know what you want to do. Based on your description of your boss, I would think that he knows the importance of your decision and knows you would not make it without reason.

Your boss kinda sounds similar to mine. He sees the value in a good employee, but he is not in a hurry to make changes that may create more work on his behalf. You can stick it out for awhile, but I'd be a little leery that his "keeping things in mind as things go forward" doesn't turn into a polite way to blow you off. I had a similar situation several years ago. As time went on, I just got more bitter when things weren't happening. It eventually took a call from another potential employer for him to make a move.

I'm a huge advocate of having time together as a family versus pursuing personal gain in the workplace. My work situation is far from ideal, but I get to carpool with my wife (about 50 minutes together) every day and I rarely miss one of my daughter's practices/games/performances. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Good luck.

Well, I feel dumb not knowing that was in Iowa. :skeptical:

we do have a nice green haze in much of the yard now so that's good to see! Not where the river ran through though, womp. Probably just reseed that this fall when there's taller grass to help slow water down for that area

I spent two hours last night trimming neighbor's branches that were hanging over in our yard. The elderly lady next door also had some rose bushes that had gone berserk that I trimmed. My arms are all carved up today. I look like the world's worst junkie.

I gave up all rights for wedding decisions for the ability to wear an orange tie. But I'll put a word in for you and try to make it happen.
You may need to give up the orange tie as it will clash with your formal attire.

Apparently I'm hovering somewhere between Hobbit and Dwarf. My feet aren't hairy, so I'm going with Dwarf. Besides...they're taller. :)

Now that I have had some time to overthink this I think it needs a least two or three more classes or at least something between Dwarf and Avatar.

Using my 5-9 as the over/under sweet spot (expanded sweet spot  is in red) I'd probably breakdown by:

under 4-11 Smurf
4-11, 5-0 Hobbit
5-1, 5-2, 5-3 Dwarf
5-4, 5-5, 5-6 Elf
5-7, 5-8, 5-9
Avatar
5-10,
5-11*, 6-0 Shield Maiden
6-1, 6-2, 6-3 Titan
6-3 and more Super Titan

* Would expand sweet spot to 5-11 but most 5-11 gals are actually 6-0 and would think a 5-9 guy is too short for them. Reverse correlation is 5-8 guys who are not close to 5-8. Example: Got talking in a bar last year about heights. Guy next to me says he is 5-8. My eyes are lined up with his hairline, so no, he ain't 5-8 unless I am 6-0. I say nothing but am thinking who do you think you fooling with that?

This is true. My wife does allow for 5-12 though.

The fall color view from Pikes Peak down on the Miss River valley and mouth of Wisc River is maybe the best fall color scene in Iowa. Similar view from the Wisc side at Wyalusing State Park but low sun in fall has you looking into the sun in the afternoon. Pikes Peak used to be the obligatory day trip when I used to live in NE Iowa.
