Random question but why are there two types of riding mowers? Do they serve a different purpose?

Can't see pics on my fone, will take a look when I get home.

Zero rain yesterday, no rain on Friday either, Mr. McDramapants.
Boxster is somebody all of us men admire. He comes off as an intelligent, thoughtful, funny guy who keeps himself in great shape, makes great rhubarb-based baking goods, has a cool car and tells interesting anecdotes. As we get older I think you’ll see that all of us guys will try to emulate what Boxster represents. Pants first step in the process seems to be complaining about the rain.

KC, lots of these kids could use a smackdown. Good to see you. Hope everything is going ok with the family.

Pants gets to actually see Nickels and Riley and drama boy whining about a little rain.

Holy cow! The great meet finally happened, eh? Must have gone reasonably well...they're both still posting, & still communicating in a civil manner! ;)

I'm doing okay...good days & bad ones. Mostly worried about Daddy...his dementia has increased markedly since the last time I was down there (about 14 months ago). It's not something you pick up on during phone calls...but constant exposure to him makes it much more obvious.

Can't imagine the loss of his wife has helped any. When my aunt had a heart attack, that is when my uncle first showed signs of dementia. So hard to watch your parents decline. Will keep him in thoughts and prayers and you too.

Looks like Nickels was smart and met Pants in a public place with zoo animals to keep him under control.

OK, yeah...the first is a zero turn model, and it's for larger lots and commercial mowing companies. Essentially turns like a skid loader, so it can get very close to stuff because it's so maneuverable. The second is a traditional rider, steers like a car, so it won't get as close to stuff...unless you've specifically landscaped with swoopy features that fit your mower, you're probably going to have to have a trimmer or push mower to get closer around things.

In reality, the Zero turns are going to start at a few grand, and they're also going to have a larger footprint, so unless you have a really large lot, a traditional mower is the way to go.

One (zero turn) is just better overall for serious mowing but comes at a lot higher price. In reality, I don't know why the zero turns cost more. It would be like comparing a Subaru WRX Sti to a Subaru BRZ. Both sporty cars but very different in the delivery.

Full Disclosure: It should be noted that I DID ***** about the Minnesota weather this morning although he sun is looking to be trying and poke through the clouds.

KC, sorry to hear about your dad...yeah, it's hard to see the ones we love decline, and I think carvers might be onto something. My grandma spent so much time with my grandpa that when he died, she just didn't know what to do with herself, and I think that led to her mental degradation. Now might be a time to suggest a living community, if he's still aware enough to benefit from the interaction with others, he might jump at the chance to be social.

It was for the better of all that way. If I got out of hand, there's trained professionals there with rifles and tranquilizer darts.
