The ESPY's

What Jenner did was not courageous and ESPN honoring him is a slap in the face to prior recipients.

i don't have cable so I am jot watching. This decision further proves that ESPN is a total joke.

Of those 4 Steph Curry would be 3rd at best. Should of gone to JJ Watt.

I'm not changing the argument. I'm addressing your exact words. Part of your definition of courage above was that what Jenner did

I showed you an article that says, in many cases, research indicates that what Jenner did doesn't help people, but rather puts them through an unnecessary, horrible, mutilating surgery that does them no good in the long term. In fact, we have no idea whether in the long term this is even going to help whatever issues Jenner was facing. Why are we celebrating this?

And why does Jenner get this award, and not one of the thousands of other people who have had this surgery over the years?
Letting others know they can be happy is not a courageous act in itself whatsoever and that is not at all what I was saying. But since you are so insistent that I address the study I will bite. Of course sex changes don't always "cure" their unhappiness. I will provide evidence for why that probably is with the following posts:
Getting a sex change is more courageous than overcoming cancer to achieve your dreams according to ESPN. IT'S DISGUSTING.

I'M SORRY IF I DON'T FIND PEOPLE WHO ARE SO F'D UP MENTALLY THAT THEY NEED TO GET A SEX-CHANGE TO BE COURAGEOUS

If people were somehow able to avoid the hate from so many people that are so willing to share their unwillingness to live and let live then I'm sure the research would show differently.

congratulations, you agree with the hateful **** Bode is spewing. I'd be really proud of that. It's sad to see someone of my generation with so much hate in them still.

Look at this hypocrite putting asterisks before my name and acting like he is the president of the politically correct group on Cyclone Fanatic in the same post. Way to contradict yourself in 3 words. Let the mature adults have a conversation now, you don't know what you are talking about.

I think the most shocking thing about this thread is there are people that somehow think the ESPYs are legitimate awards that should be taken seriously or are taken seriously by anyone. Do you guys also yell and throw things when Ed Shearan gets beat out by One Direction for a Kid's Choice Award?

There's the greatest Packer of all time and one of the best qbs of all time, miss you Brett!

You don't?

I agreed with the post I quoted. Get off your high horse. I don't like that people I personally know have their name on the same award as Jenner. I don't hate Jenner. I disagree what she has done with her life. I don't think I'm any better than Jenner but don't act like you're any better than me because you aren't "filled with hate"

calling hateful **** hateful **** isn't being a hypocrite. Careful with those big words you don't know the meaning of.

Now I see why you are on that sad little dating website bragging yourself up.

What if we're just better than you in other ways?

No. But then again, I haven't I've seen major news outlets like ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN trying to legitimize the Kid's Choice Awards as I have seen them do for multiple times for this Espy over the past month. There is a huge push out there to get people to take this "award" seriously, and it goes well beyond ABC/ESPN. One has to wonder why. You have to admit it's pretty rare for a network to repeatedly publicize something made up by competing network.

I've seen you get pretty worked up about this Jenner thing before. It seems to bother you way more than it should and you get pretty nasty about it. I just hope someday you won't feel that way. And "I disagree with what they've done with their life" is usually code for thinking them beneath you in some way.

I don't post much (obviously), but as a middle school counselor, I hope that the transgender student I work with saw tonight's speech and has hope and confidence and strength to block out the comments and hate speech she gets. I also hope young people who may be transgender that I don't work with also saw tonight's speech, especially if they are athletes. Iowa high school sports have many transgender athletes, in most cases only the family and school officials know about. I hope these athletes saw the speech and gain confidence, hope, and strength. Caitlyn was likely a ratings choice and there could have been other worthy recipients, but to be one of the most famous male athletes of the last 40 years and to publicly admit she has never felt "male" and to put herself out there and be who she is, that does take courage.

I will go back to just reading and watching posts again.... :)

It's not about the ESPYs, it's about the Jenner story which is still a semi-big story. Do you hear a lot of people bring up the number of ESPYs someone has won on a regular basis at any time not during the ESPYs broadcast? Of course not, because nobody cares.
