yeah normally it's not an issue, but staying up past 2am watching a race my driver won followed by probably the worst crash I've seen was just not good "winding down to sleep" activities.

When I saw that it was just getting started when I switched channels to watch the news, and then saw that they were only about halfway through when I went to bed, I wondered if you & WDSM stayed up for it. 2 am, eh? Cars going in a circle would have made me crash LONG before that. :)

I kind of like that Wimbledon is moved back a week this year. After cleaning the house intensely last week for company and cooking all weekend for the multitudes, I am just gonna settle in and watch matches until middle of the afternoon and then take a nap.

I was hoping they'd just move it to tonight but sounds like they have a test in Kentucky on Wednesday...once I saw that I'd knew they'd run it last night no matter how late. Needed the time to get teams back to NC and loaded back out to KY.

I suspect Cy's locker room is regretting the large order of these:

Read this to your kid

I read it to my daughter's class when she was in first grade. I was practically hitting auctioneer speed at one point. The kids thought I was a god.
I read this as the "secret reader" to my daughter's class when she was in first grade. They just thought I was weird. I guess they were probably right.

Work was expected to be crazy today, and now I'm sitting here waitin for phone calls to come through. Kind of wish I could delete that mandatory overtime.

does anyone else get slightly depressed after watching or taking part in something? i was watching the third star ceremony on fox sports and everyone looked so happy and excited. then i got back in my car to go to work and was slightly depressed. the same thing happened the day everyone left town after our wedding. everyone was happy and excited and then all of a sudden it was gone. i wonder if that is normal.

My wife battled depression for a bit after college. We both kinda thought it was a "stage" that she was going through after leaving friends. I still had a semester to go, so I only got to see it on the occasional weekend and over phone calls. She'd seem happy and then really struggle in certain situations. We never got help for her, but looking back at it, we probably shouldn't have discounted it. There are situations where there's a chemical imbalance that throws off a person's outlook.

I'm not trying to scare you, but please don't ignore it if you feel there are signs.

I get emotionally tired sometimes and might need to be alone or some extra sleep.

Hmm...not sure what the third star thing is, but I can also understand the wedding thing, and in some ways, I'd think that's a little normal, the 'crash' back to normalcy after an emotional event where EVERYONE you're close to is celebrating with you.

I was kind of down in the dumps yesterday, after the 4th party which was a great time with new-ish friends...the crash back included not feeling the best after the festivities, yet the requirement that I re-secure my house (if you missed it, got locked out, had to bust in the door from garage to house.)

The first thing is realizing it, the second is using the support of those who love you...I very consciously, and somewhat awkwardly (since it's not something I'd normally do) told my wife that I was kind of feeling down, and asked her to help me use it to draw us closer, not farther apart (like I sometimes do by being cranky in situations like that). As well, a friend offered to help fix it...old me would have thought that I could do it myself, and get it done, but curse and sulk that it was hard...new me said "Thanks, that'd be great, why don't you bring the wife and kids over, we can hang out"....and he really had to only help me lift it into place, the rest of the time he was supervising and hanging out while I worked, but both of those allowed me to lean into others and build relationships rather than go John Wayne and pull away.

In addition to Cooler's advice, I'd just add that when you feel that way, be honest about it and draw closer to those around you, don't pull back.

I think a bit of this is normal. It was so great to have all of my kids home over the weekend and now kind of depressed after taking the oldest to the airport; I cry every time. After anticipation and exhilaration, a letdown is probably common.
