so DH was labeling all the internet cable things and one of them doesn't work. Of course it's for the spot we decided we'd put his computer. Couldn't be one of the bedrooms not in use anyway.

Welcome to home ownership!

I hereby declare NWICY Midwest Summer Biathlon champion. 40 mile bike ride in the a.m. 200 targets in the afternoon. and 20 more miles after supper just because.

Actually the 40 this morning was really easy, it was FLAT and very little wind. 3.5 hours including stops for breakfast burritos and a pop and a water halfway thru. Trap went OK but nothing special doubles went better than singles (head on the stock eye on the rock). Had an early supper went out and took the 20 mile route w/1 hill and 1 mile gravel. I guess it wasn't a very productive day but I enjoyed it. Celebrated with a bowl of ice cream w/bananas and walnuts and a big glass of milk. Hope everyone else's day was as good as mine.

That'll probably be covered by your wiring contractor I would think.

Welp - had to make an unscheduled road trip to an impound lot in KC today. Had a lot of things I wanted to get done today; so did PapaLew.

Remember we did a big car switch last winter with our son down there? Elmer got stolen from his parking lot three weeks ago....aaaaaaaannnnnd, turns out he never got around to taking care of the title exchange & licensing. Elmer was still wearing his Iowa plates.

Good news: cops found Elmer & towed him to the impound around 2am last night. Bad news: cops wouldn't release Elmer to son because the plate search showed us as owners.

Bad news: we couldn't deal with it over the phone, or via fax, etc. We had to be there IN PERSON to break Elmer out of car jail.

Good news: the idiots had been using Elmer as their personal car, and when he was impounded there were not one, not two, but THREE cell phones in and under the seats. Plus two large sacks of groceries in the trunk...except the groceries looked like they had been stolen from a store - 25-30 hanging sleeves of sliced cheese, string cheese, cheese curds, plus several stacks of tv dinners. All I could think of was that they got lucky; if they'd eaten all that cheese they would have been constipated for a month!

Bad news: At some point during the time Elmer was in the thieves' possession, they either sideswiped something, or someone sideswiped them. The front panel between the wheel well and the driver's door is all busted, the trim strip is gone, the remote-control mirror is there but busted up, and the door hangs up on the broken panel. Plus, there's a nice rub-off of the finish on the front fender & the driver's door.

Don't know if we'll recover our cost of fixing Elmer up, but son has a different car now that PapaLew found for him a couple of weeks ago and spent the weekend helping him fix (brakes and a couple of minor things). I told son before we headed down that if Elmer was driveable he was coming home with me. Elmer is home and tucked into his garage now.

I'm sorry, Reggie - our affair is over. Driving home from KC reminded me just how much I loved driving Elmer...he's built just right for my short little legs!

oh yeah, he found a dead outlet too. We've got a list of a few things that didn't get finished up (drywall dings marked by the builder and apparently ignored by the drywall people among other things) so we'll just add these on. Stuff like that we're supposed to let them know.

Bad news: at some point in time

oh wow, that is crazy. Glad they found the car back.........I'll cross my fingers that you can get some repair money out of the thieves.

and pants, not that you'll notice, but no knocking the ridic shoes DH is wearing in that picture. He came back from the gym last Monday and is like my shoes fell apart. He's had them since high school. I've been trying to get him to buy new ones since that's terrible for your joints. And the sole was literally separated from the sides. It did a nice flipping and flopping. So yeah, he was fresh out of the normal shoes people would wear for actual work, ha.
