Imformal poll of RT's:
Is a 2-bedroom apartment taking up 4(!) parking spots in a small lot enough to get the landlord involved? (I say not yet, but its been probably 3 weeks)

Yes. IMO, more than a weekend is too long. But then again I'm overly pissy about being able to park in a lot when I have to pay for that right (sore subject re illegally parked cars in a campus reserved lot)...

Have you talked to the tenant to see what is up?

One of the slides I scanned recently. Went out into apt parking lot one morning and this dudes Corvette was all aflame. From the wayback slides when I first moved to the Twin Cities (as if the cars weren't a big give away on that!).

Yes. If it means you have to park somewhere ridiculously far away.

Have you talked to the tenant to see what is up?

Unless you know the tenant and they are very reasonable, I'd vote against that honestly. I don't mind confrontation, but four people in a two bedroom apartment leads me to think that at least one of them wouldn't mind doing something to your car while you're asleep.

I've seen too many bad things in my apartment-dwelling past to put too much stock in the decency of people.

I always wonder how effective ad campaigns are where your "mascot" (for lack of a better word) is a complete ******* (looking at you 1800 tequila)

Sweet emergency vehicle in the background. As part of the austerity measures, I imagine that is what they are required to use in Greece these days. Another reason for GeorgiosT to stay here.

Just caught up on the thread over the weekend.

Snedds - thoughts and prayers to you and your wife. Keep talking to each other no matter how much you may not want to "bother" the other if you're feeling down

Rulzzz - Hoping for the best with your mom.

CG - congratulations! When are you due (I glazed over a few posts. I just assume this happened)

Pants and Nickels - Congratulations! When is the date? (see above about glazing over posts)

Vikes - I've gotten bad hangovers for as long as I can't remember. Feelin your pain

Airbag - How did the spooning situation work with the three of you?

Fellow graying CF men - we look ******* distinguished and sexy

My parents came into KC Friday so we went out to eat with them and two of my other sisters. Instead of going to a decent non-chain restaurant that I recommended, we ended up going to Texas Roadhouse.

We waited one hour. While I was waiting, I ordered a drink and apparently told them to water it down so I couldn't taste any alcohol. I then ordered a steak that was overpriced and about 1/4 as good as one I could have grilled myself.

One of these years I'll remember not to go order a steak at some chain-steak-house-ish place.

Uggh, this drives me nuts. Was on business travel in Monterrey, CA (well, actually the business was in San Jose, but we drove thru Monterrey), and one of the older guys in our group insisted on going to Bubba Gump shrimp. Seriously, we were in frickin' Monterrey, CA...there were probably 15 amazing local places nearby, but we're eating crap seafood in a place that exists solely because some popular movie had a character that had a shrimp boat.

I mean, I get the chain thing when you're not sure and 'not horrible' is better than going into a bad place, but in your case, with local intelligence, or in mine (it's Monterrey, CA, a **** restaurant isn't going to last), I really don't understand it.

Is it wrong that I think this picture is freakin' cool?

Yes. If it means you have to park somewhere ridiculously far away.

So here's the deal: When they moved in, it was a single mom and her two boys...one of them HS age at the time. So at first, it was her car and his truck. No prob. Then, we started noticing a white compact overnight. Oooookay. Not tremendously bad. And it wasn't every night. Now, there's a full-sized truck that's showed up. And, the truck now is starting to be every night. (I think the white car is hit and miss still)

Here's what I think: I obviously know mom and son's car. I think the white car is son's gitlfriend, and the truck is mom's boyfriend.

I believe another problem is that there are no lines drawn for the parking spots...you just guess. This group of cars, though, are getting better with parking. At one point, the space left between them took up an extra 1.5-2 spaces.

And my husband knows the oldest son pretty well, but not the mom. So, conversation would be awkward. And, mom's boyfriend is huge. Like...2-3 inches on me and a big guy. Dunno how that would go over.

Monterrey is awesome. One of my best friends got married there.

Bubba Gump, tho? We ate at the one in the Mall of America and I still regret it. It was like Rainforest Cafe food without the ambiance of ****** decor.

If you think they'd react ok, I'd consider saying something to them like, "Hey, would you mind parking one of your vehicles somewhere else? The other day I had a car-ful of groceries and had to lug them from the other lot."

The bad thing is if they don't respond well, you really can't go to your landlord without them knowing that you generated the complaint.

Or you could always just get about 5 ferrets. They'd probably move within the month.

Dear lord you live in KC and ended up at Texas Roadhouse. Next time don't give them a choice just say we're going somewhere local and take them. I don't even live in KC and I know better than that. Sorry you didn't get to show them somewhere nice or good.

Tenants should have first priority. Is there any kind of info in your lease referring to tenant and visitor parking? If so, might be time to suggest that landlord post a reminder at the mailbox station. That way, maybe they would get the hint without confrontation. If they don't then at least you've made the landlord a bit more aware of the problem...

In that healthcare/doctor thread, I think the OP should have specified something about having bad service or maybe describing a funny anecdote. Asking people to report their worst experiences with a doctor is like starting a thread titled, "Tell us about the saddest or most disgusting day of your life"

This sounds really depressing and could get worse....

She's very particular about the ring, so I've got to get that taken care of first.
