If Fred doesn't come out saying that he is here for at least the next 3 years....then I hope he leaves. He is holding us hostage and killing recruiting. We are better off w/out him at this point im afraid.

While the Iowa fan in me would LOVE to see Fred leave ISU, the Bulls fan in me isn't so sure about the hire. The logical based me is even more skeptical about the move.
He's basically Jebus in Ames. Fans love him, he's an Ames guy, great place to raise a family, get's paid an Ames sized boat load of money, and he's running a great program. Oh yeah, and there's those heart issues. The physical/mental stress has got to be less in Ames than it would be in Chicago.
I know he's a competitive guy with the typical athlete ego, so he may be looking to succeed at the top level of basketball, and taking over a decent team in the East would give him that chance. Plus, the Bulls can pay him way more than ISU could.
Would Bulls fans/management be patient/willing to help Fred build his kind of team in Chicago? The Bulls are a very defensive minded team, that suck in transition, and are not very deep. Put them in the West and they don't make the playoffs.
I still question some of his talent decisions, even though he has built a strong program. The lack of rebounders became evident in the post season. His working of the transfer market in college is good practice for the free-agent market in the pros. Then there's the fact that he actually managed to make Royce White an outstanding player. So he obviously has a way of getting through to players. While I'll never say Phil Jackson was a great coach, he's probably the greatest ego-manager in the history of the NBA, Fred may have this same ability. But no matter how good of a coach he is, he can't keep DRose healthy.
I dunno. It all reminds me of the days when Ferentz was a good coach, and in demand by the NFL. Only difference is ISU can't match NBA money. If he truly is the family man he claims to be, then ISU makes the most sense. I always figured KF was only staying around until his last son graduated HS but then it turned out that he's really not that great of a coach anymore.

This is a long shot at best.. I do have a good source on this one. But maybe Pollard can change the guys mind.
Freds gone. Ive accepted it about a week ago, time to move on. Lets hope for a great hire. I would not be too excited over TJ but think that is the most likely. Also fred is an A+ coach but a C recruiter NBA will fit him well. Kinda the opposite of Saban A+ recruiter about a B coach. Some are made for ncaa some are made for pros
I'm surprised by the number of ISU fans who think others shouldn't be ****** about this. Why the hell should I smile, say thank you, and take it up the ***? Maybe it has been his dream to coach in the NBA all along and that's fine but he called Iowa State his dream job and talked about how amazing the opportunity is for his family to live in Ames surrounded by his family and in laws. He also hinted at wanting to stay here for a very long time and winning championships.
Call it coach speak all you want but if that really wasn't how he felt, he shouldn't have said it publicly. When somebody like Fred says something like that, call me gullible but I tend to believe it because my opinion of him is so high. I won't hate him for life by any means but right now I'm pretty un ******* happy that one of our own, somebody most if not all of us thought was different, seems to be like any other coach. I don't doubt that he loves ISU/Ames but there's no denying how much he's hurt the fan base and program which is even harder to take because of how much he's done and could have done in the future. I bet JP is SUPER annoying right now at the Big 12 meetings....phone on silent but buzzing on the table top, in and out of the room taking calls, texting during the presentations...NO ONE likes that guy.
Rumor has it they made JP stand in the corner during the realignment mess. This would just be more of the same
So you think all the sudden Fred gets to the NBA and will go 11 deep and give everyone adequate rest? No he won't he plays the main guys and that won't change.
Look at what Golden State is doing right now, pretty similar to Fred's small ball strategy at ISU.
Total **** move by Fred. Using ISU all the way- now what do those who say "this isn't affecting recruiting" ahve to say. See ya Fred- don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya. WOW
All eyes are on you Fred. Is this really your dream job or is NBA your top option? Iowa State will live on with or without you. If you want to stay and help us get to the Final 4, you can. But don't expect me kissing your backside later if you abort ship now.

You'll be looked at as the guy who lead this young group to promising things. If you head to that Bull (crap) job in Chicago, you'll never get the credit you deserve with that bad owner Reinsdorph. If I were you, I'd improve your resume by steering this ship (our great 2015-2016 team) to the Final 4 and you could earn your self more millions by doing that. But if you leave now, I think it's possible you may just be in it to get the cash when you can. I feel you can earn so much more by staying AT LEAST 1 more year. Prove the doubters wrong who say you can't win in the tournament. But if you don't think you can succeed in doing that, maybe Chicago is the best option for you.
