If the success continues, I'll agree it worked out in the long run. As of right now, Fred might have cost us a serious chance at a National Title next year.

I'm not going to change my opinion of Fred due to the aforementioned article, as that doesn't necessarily mean that he was decided at that point. I'm taking it as an honest answer, and that there was at least some consideration of leaving at that time.

I agree. Although if you were really on the fence (ie. 50/50) you likely wouldn't tell that to a recruit. If you were strongly leaning towards leaving, you might.

I'm glad he didn't lie to the kid to get him to Ames. But this **** show has been going on for too long now. Time to move on.

Correct. If he really knew he wasn't coming back he should have stepped away. But I am guessing he merely said he can't promise that he will be here next year because it was a possibility for him and not something that was set in stone.

We twice revised Fred's contract and had no buy-out clause, or NBA provision. We were committed for the long haul.

I hope our fans can look at Cleveland/LeBron a few years ago and not act that way. Not that I'm saying Fred will return to ISU...but still it didn't look good on Cleveland.

Love what Fred did for ISU, but our best season was with a coach none of us even knew the name of until he got the ISU job. ISU basketball isn't so fragile, most coaches do well here.

A chance that only existed because of Fred. I think when emotions cool down, people will realize, that even if we go back to sucking, the last four years was better than nothing.

Hopefully JP realizes our program is in a better position today that it's ever been and can leverage that and the fan's commitment to MBB to sign a proven coach.

If Hoiberg leaves I will have lost a great deal of admiration and respect both for he and Pollard. How can "being a head coach in the NBA since Day 1" have been Hoiberg's goal when at the exact same moment in time coaching at Iowa State was his "dream job"? Would he and Pollard just plain bold face lie to us?:
