My MBB short list for coaches.

He does like TJ...and TJ seems to have the respect with players as a recruiter that may be enough "it" factor to be the next big thing (Remember who replaced Todd Lickliter at Buter? Brad Stephens)...would you all want TJ or Tubby Smith? Billy Gillespie? Other "known" good vs upside? With the roster we have coming back, whomever gets the keys if Fred leaves has a great start.

I'd definitely like to see JP go after someone with some clout, but if they strike out on big guys, then I'd honestly probably rather have TJ than a guy like Brad Underwood or Ben Jacobson.

My ultimate fear is JP not even trying to go after someone, then we'd never know who we possibly could have had.

Close personal sources tell me Thibodeau really wants to coach the Cyclones and his wife is just begging to drink the water in Ames.

Well we've only had one example of a coach that can win at a high level and who can do it consistently. That's Hoiberg.

Larry wasn't consistent. Tim wasn't consistent. The other two sure as heck weren't.

So yes, I think it is fair to say that it is VERY unlikely that we find another coach as consistent and as good as Hoiberg.

And you can't say we don't have a lot of data to prove this point--we are on our 5th coach in 20 years and it sounds like we will be signing up #6 soon.

Look, I love Hoiberg (seriously, i have a man-crush on him) but let's keep some perspective. One Sweet 16 in five years ain't exactly John Wooden. Yes, he has raised us up to some great things but, when it counts, he has a Sweet 16.

Stop being so damn dramatic.

If Fred is leaving TJ is the new HC. No way he leaves Washington for a 3 month gig and then gets a new boss who could not keep him

Yep. Teams are fun to watch though

Love Hoiberg, but, honestly we could use a coach with an alcohol problem. We need Larry back
