NFL Giving up Non-Profit Status

What surprises me is that a multi-billion dollar corporation can ever qualify for nonprofit status in the first place.

They weren't always a multi billion dollar organization. The teams have always been taxed, which is where the vast majority of income historically came from. Only recently did they start getting multi billion dollar tv contracts. But like I said, I would guess they will run the league at a breakeven, and the teams will pick up that tab, they just won't have anywhere to shelter the tax burden anymore.

I really didn't have a problem with them being a tax exempt entity. I am sure this was mainly done to be able to not have to disclose the comish's salary and the like anymore.
