ISU's release regarding Darien Williams' release

Man...some people need to lay off Matt. Yeah, he ****ed over Iowa State, but he's just doing his job. I sure as hell would never welcome him back, even if he gets fired after 2 years at St. Johns and would settle as our video coordinator.

But he's just doing his job over there now.

you have to really try in this thread to be the biggest dumbarse....as there is a lot of competition....but I think you locked it up with this post.
 
I read the first three pages of this thread and that was about enough to think the rest isn't worth reading. I think it may be the understatement of the century to say that people here need to get a grip. When a JUCO transfer decides not to attend ISU it doesn't mean our basketball team is falling apart nor does it mean Fred must be leaving. It's our fans that have an issue, not our basketball team.

It seems a number of people here immediately imagine the worst possible reasoning or scenario when any "negative" news comes out. Then they post about it as if they know exactly what/why/how things are happening. Maybe Williams thought he won't get the playing time since Fred plays 6 or 7 guys and just used the coaching move as a reason to get out of his LOI?

Fred isn't leaving, basketball team is going to be fine, we are at a high point in Cyclone basketball. Everyone take a deep breath and chill out.

Lol, any negative news about recruiting usually spills out early. Look at the Vaughn situation last year, in the week leading up to his announcement there was a lot of info spilling out of the program about how Vaughn had turned to UNLV away from ISU.

If people close to the program think we're still in it, then by all account ISU is still a contender. Maybe in Cheick's head we aren't, but they are just going by whatever Cheick is feeding them. We've been given no reason to think ISU is out.

Maybe, but especially with Williams leaving the future is now. I'd much rather have Matt with our immediate need for transfers than Otz. If we don't a minimum of 3 transfers this offseason we are going to be starting a boatload of freshman or 5th year kids in 2016.
 
Some of the post in this are so bad.

Do you really think Fred has it so planned out that next he will go to the NBA. He has no idea what jobs will be open, he isn't the kind of guy just to jump at the first chance he gets, if he ever goes.

I really don't think Fred is the type of guy to build this program up and just leave it when the times get tough or there is a little bit of rebuilding to do.

I still think you can take Fred at his word, he loves being at ISU and will be at ISU for a number of years. Someday he may move on and when that happens the program will be in great shape for the next guy.

The biggest issue this program has is the negative recruiting. He has recruited over players and not always got some players enough PT. If you are a fan that is a good problem, if you are a player it is a bad one.
 
This makes me nervous. Fred and TJ have a lot of work to do if we want to prevent a certain team from getting #12..

And four open scholarships... do you not think we'll have the ability to win next year?
