Not sure if this has been posted before but I think it would be pretty sweet to see the endZones Cardinal with gold lettering! Or vice versa or 1 on each side, I watch other football programs and a lot of them do this and didn't know why we don't!! Anyone else in favor of this!! Look pretty sweet imo

It would look great, but I doubt it will ever happen. That much paint, by the end of the football season, with the kind of weather Ames has at the end of the year, the end zones would be destroyed every single year. Paint is extremely rough on grass, and the vast majority of teams that paint their end zones like that have Field Turf or other artificial surfaces.
 
That'd be a lot of paint. I think a majority of other schools now have field turf. The grounds keepers take a lot of pride in the natural grass in Jack Trice.

Its doable, the grass could handle it. That being said it won't happen.

Not just an "aggie" school, but an "aggie" school with one of the best, if not the best, turf management programs in America. That would be embarrassing.

BTW, Jack Trice is covered with turf. Just not embarrassing artificial turf.

There's nothing wrong with modern artificial turf, but with Jack Trice it would be idiotic to move away from the perfect natural turf they have maintained. Why move from something completely exceptional to something extremely typical?

Don't even have to bring the ag thing into it, ISU football can use any accolades it can get and odd as it sounds our playing surface gets accolades.

I've frankly never heard a single accolade for the type of turf one school has in place. That doesn't mean a school is unrecognized, just that it's not widely known. But I have heard plenty of negatives about turf issues, both natural and artificial. Overall, this seems to be a very minor point to banter, i.e. who the hell cares besides the local aggies?

Football should be played on grass and not ground up tires.

Our surface gets accolades, but with how many programs have switched over to artificial, it seems like that should have an asterisk next to it.
