So you think as a collective, if seeding were up to them, the AP would seed UNI and WSU higher than ISU?

If YOU were to seed the teams right now, where would you seed ISU? UNI?

1. No (we're talking seeding right? Not their current AP ranking)
2. ISU higher than UNI

I really don't think that's a question at all. Seeding wise, I've always said ISU ends up higher than UNI.

Ranking wise, UNI will stay on top of ISU if both teams win out and Kansas doesn't lose.

As of today- ISU is a 3, UNI is a 4.

The big difference is ceiling and floor and that's what schedule strength allows you.

If UNI wins out, they'll be lucky to get a 3. If Iowa State wins out, they'll get a 2.

If UNI loses out they'll get an 8. If Iowa State loses out they'll still get at least a 5.

Hell, if UNI splits with Wichita, I don't think they stay on the 4 line and they end up a 5.

WSU is the one I can't explain. They look like a 7 to me right now...

You keep trying to steer the discussion towards seeding in a ranking thread. If you were a voter how would you rank Iowa State and UNI? How would you seed them? Why would you not rank them based on how you would seed them?

Please give me an example of when this has ever happened in history? It just doesn't happen.

Exactly. If ISU had a 26-2 record with 15 straight wins and was ranked 10th, Ames and its surrounding areas would need an all new sewage system from all of the bricks coming down the toilet pipes. UNI deserves their ranking based on their record alone. ISU will get their seed based on literally everything else.

What leads you to believe that if UNI wins out they deserve a 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament? Do you honestly believe that UNI has one of the top 12 resumes in the nation heading into the NCAA Tournament?

Their only quality wins would potentially be against Wichita State and that is it. (3 times or possibly only 2 times if they get upset in the MVC Tourney)

It's interesting that you see Wichita State as a 7 seed right now considering they are UNI's one and only "quality" win.

Why would ISU end up as a higher seed than UNI? They are the better team. Why should the AP Top 25 not be a ranking of teams best to worst, indicated by the number next to their name?

You are bashing your own one and only top 50 win here, I wouldn't be doing that if I were you.

The AP does not seed the tourney. If seeding were up to the AP, then yes, UNI would be seeded higher than ISU.

It's pretty obvious the AP values wins more than SOS and RPI. At this point last year:

3. Wichita St. 27-0
6. San Diego St. 22-2
10. St. Louis 23-2

Notables:
17. ISU 19-5
21.UConn 20-5

The bottom line is NO ONE knows if ISU would beat UNI or vice versa. OR, if that would truly determine if the winner was "better." BUT WHAT CANNOT be debated - WHATSOEVER - is that Iowa State plays a tougher schedule in a tougher conference. If someone is arguing against that then they are being an *******. We've played a harder schedule TOP to BOTTOM than, Kentucky, Gonzaga, Wisconsin, Villanova and all others except 15 schools. Does that mean we'd beat any of those teams - see the first sentence. This thread is silly.

Meh. You have to be a good team to be in the 7 seed range.

UNI got some bad breaks as far as teams they thought would be good not being so great and got stuck in a bad exempt tourney. They've made up for it by being nearly flawless.

It will all work itself out in the end and we'll have a chance to prove it on the floor in March.

You cannot be this dense, I asked you why someone would rank someone higher than they would seed them. You said that would never happen. I asked if you thought that, IF they did the seeding, the AP would seed UNI higher than ISU. You said no. You understand that you are contradicting yourself? I asked you what you would seed ISU and UNI, you are vague in your response saying that ISU will end up higher (not saying if you think they should be or not, but lets say you do think that), yet you have spent this entire thread arguing why UNI should be ranked higher. You are contradicting yourself again.

I don't get this either, you do realize that outside of UNI beating Wichita at home, their RPIs are very very similar right? So to call Wichita a 7 seed and think that you are a very good team that hasn't gotten breaks as far as the schedule goes is ridiculous.

I need to premise myself here, I hold nothing against UNI or Wichita as schools or basketball teams, I would be making these arguments if it were any two other teams in the NCAA with similar resumes. I don't think the UNI fan and UNI grad would be doing the same thing if it weren't their school.

What I meant by that never happening is for teams like UNI, Wichita State, St. Louis (last year). They normally end up with a seed lower than their rank (if you were to convert their seed to a rank).

If the AP seeded (which they don't), yes, UNI would be seeded higher than ISU because they are ranked higher right now.

That is not a contradiction. The AP does not seed the tourney.

What would I seed ISU and UNI? I would seed ISU higher than UNI.

Ranking wise, UNI is higher and I believe they should be ranked higher. History has also shown that the AP likes Wins for these mid majors as opposed to their RPI and SOS.

And I don't think you'd be so butt hurt if it wasn't little brother sitting in the Top Ten and ISU behind them.

This just totally blows my mind.
