The answer is simple and you need to look no further than a highlight tape of Yakwe. He isn't the best shooter like Hogue but IMO more athletic. Kid can jump, and run. Maybe not as strong but Dustin has 5 years on the growing recruit.

Just wondering, as Hogue is currently our best shooter.
There are so many different styles of guards and bigs in the 2016 class. Coffey - shooting and skill, Monk - John Wall athleticism, Bridges - combo forward with physicality, Cook - back to the basket game, Yakwe - athleticism at 6'8"

His 55% free throw shooting percentage just wows everyone I know in the big 12. I will credit it for his ability to make wide open three pointers a lot more consistently in Big 12 play this year and the corner shot against ok st. But if u think he is our best shooter on the team give me a break and don't base it off of his percentages...
% is usually quite accurate.
If you feel others have a better "shot", I'll buy some of that but shooting % is what it is.
BTW, there are plenty of college BB players that can't "make wide open three pointers".
Settle down - just asking for clarification of what you were saying. No doubt he has struggled at the free throw line, but that is an entirely different animal, no? Game is completely stopped. Different pressures. Dustin's shooting improvements have followed along the same curve as Melvin Ejim's did. I see nothing wrong in using statistics when they are over the course of the entire season thus far. It's not a fluke.
I don't think insulting our recruits is a good tactic if you want them to come here.
I understand how his percentages back up his shot but tyson chandler shooting percentage is 67% in the nba so that's how easily it can be misleading. Obviously not as bad as chandlers shooting percentage as idk if that man has ever even attempted a shot outside the lane but u get my point? Hogue takes 6-7 shots on average a game and will usually make 4 of them. Despite how crazy acrobatic his layups can be, hogue simply takes smarts shots. But why don't we always run set up 3 point plays for him instead of naz if he is such a great shooter?
Down 3 at the end of the game, I'm guessing Hogue is probably 5th on the list to take the shot.
Yakwe would absolutely flourish playing for Hoiberg. His length, athleticism, and aggression would be great in our uptempo offense. His length in a Hogue 13-14 role would help our defense too.
I'm not arguing that at all, but keep in mind he was the one who made the go ahead three with not much time left against OSU
Throw Burton in the mix and ISU could be LOB CITY next year. Morris and Niang might both average 10 asst / game.
A big reason for that is that ISU would want Hogue to be available to fight for the rebound and putback.
