Bracketology 2015...

It doesn't always work like that. And the bracketology has Wisconsin as the 2 in UKs region. And UW has an argument to be a 1 seed ( and may end up as one)

A little surprised that the bracket gurus are putting us as a three seed. Don't really agree at this point. Not saying we couldn't wind up a three seed. I think we are more of a 4-5 seed frankly..

we are already almost in the top 12 teams which means 3 seed. It will be hard for the committee to put whichita St and UNI who are ranked ahead of us as a higher seed due to the schedule differences.

I we were to win out on the season we would be a 2 seed for sure. We would have at least 4 top 25 wins when you figure in the tourny as well as a win against a kansas team. That would give us 10 wins over top 25 teams and another 4-5 over tourny teams...turns out that is pretty good resume.

Of all the 6 seeds to play in the next round, I want VCU. They are remarkably average, and our ball handling would destroy them. Kind of like West Virginia Light.

Losing Briante Weber just tore them apart. Best player and the guy that made Havoc work and had the ball in his hands all the time. Crippling, crippling injury...

Really loving where we are sitting in Jerry Palm's brackets at the moment. I'm also loving that if Iowa gets in as a 10 seed and manages to actually win their first game, they'd have to go up against Kansas. Might have to actually root for KU on that one.

Honestly, with Kansas being one of the two seeds right now, I see a scenario where beating them in the Big 12 championship game gets ISU the 2 seed instead of them assuming the Clones go 3-2 or better down the stretch

I don't think the Big 12 tourney will carry that much weight, unless maybe the stars align for these last couple weeks and we end up splitting the regular season title with Kansas.

Its not the tournament itself that carries the weight, its that the three day run could include wins over 3 Top 25-35 RPI teams in 3 days and also give KU another loss.

Right, but assuming KU went into that weekend with a better resume than ISU and would also be picking up 1 or 2 decent wins, would that really be enough to push us ahead? I don't think it would be.

I don't think we will pass Kansas anyways. They have the number 1 SOS and RPI. That's not going to be too easy for us to get around no matter what we do.

Right, which even if we shared and won the conference tourney, it'd be tough. Long shot regardless and wishful thinking. I just see a 2-3 seed in the conference tourney and a 3 seed in Omaha. That to me would still be awesome.

Agreed, KU will have a top 3 RPI when it's all said and done. We're not passing them, but the B12 having 2-2's is probably not out of the question if we go on a tear.

The win over Oklahoma State in Stillwater convinced me that Iowa State deserves a 3 seed in the big tourney. I am now on board. However, what is it going to take to stay at that 3 seed line? I think Iowa State could lose one more game, and still stay at that 3 seed line regardless of the outcome of the big twelve tournament. Now if they lose more than one game, a 3 seed is still attainable, they would almost have to make the Championship game of the Big XII tournament for that to happen. Throw this scenario out there, (hopefully it doesn't happen). Say they lose out, I think a 5 seed would be as low as they go..

If they win their home games, 4 is as low as they go. At this point it would take a lot to get us off the 3/4 line. We finish 3-2 we still have a top 12 rpi.

Last year's championship was a 7 vs 8 seed. Maybe I'm the only one not worried about seeding, to be the best you have to play the best. I'm just hoping for an Omaha draw and a regional without Kentucky.

That's the key, and it seems to be the one angle nobody is talking about. A lot of people I talk to seem to think ISU has a 3 seed in the bag. We're on pace for that, but could certainly lose it down the stretch. I'm not going to get greedy and set my hopes on a 2 seed because keeping ourselves in the conversation for a 3 is going to be hard enough.

Absolutely agree.
