Decided to start giving plasma, because why not. It's a nice little pocket change for someone who can't work.

It also saves lives, which is arguably more important than pocket change...

Seriously, though...good on you. Blood/plasma donations mean the difference between living and dying for other people. Keep it up.

I also have a weird obsession with giving blood? Not sure why, probably need to get checked for it.. But I just think the whole procedure is fascinating

BU is that like $50/donation? Can you post the name of the place so I can visit the website TIA.

I certainly don't know the work environment there, was there any input by the floor employees before the change or did they come in and stuff is all changed because "we know how to do your job better than you". If it a employee who usually complains not so much weight to their view, but if they're someone that comes in and gets it done maybe they felt no one would listen unless it went to the top first.

It was a change that once completed fully, won't affect their job at all, it was replacing one thing that should sit silently and do its job with another thing that should sit silently and do its job with more functionality. The issue at hand (apparently...despite the fact that I or my 2 peers would be the one to handle resolving the issue, none of us still have yet to get any details other than what was shared in the meeting) is that when they hooked it up, they didn't leave enough slack to allow it to be moved. Admittedly, that's not a non-issue...but it's an easily resolvable issue with the capabilities of our maintenance department.

I get what you're saying about changing things without consulting the people who use the systems that are changing, I've seen that, and am very sensitive to that as a person who is responsible for making the people be able to be successful...it was more of a situation where an external equipment provider didn't get things perfect because of not knowing intricate details of our process, but the errors were things that should be easily remedied...if the person would have said anything at all to me, my 2 peers, his leader, or to the maintenance team that's present 24 hours a day (total of 6 people, 2 of which I know had direct interactions with him during that shift). Rather, he sat silently...saying nothing to anyone for an entire work shift despite the fact that he had numerous opportunities to say "hey, this thing they replaced, I can't move it cause the cord is too short...can we fix that?", then complained to the plant manager who didn't even know this change was happening because it's such a small detail it's not worth his time.

00, Thanks for explaining hope no one got to much grief over the whole deal, but I wanted to ask because I've been on both sides of that type of stuff.

Yeah, and I get that...honestly, that's probably why I got so pizzed about it, I used to be the 2nd shift manager, and had situations where we came in and things were changed that fit the 1st shift situation better, and I literally called maintenance and had them change it back and sent an e-mail saying that I changed it back, don't change it again, let's get together, and when we all come to an agreement, we can make one final change that works for everyone (admittedly, e-mail is a wimpy way of sending that message, but it's most reliable when working different shifts), so it's not like I, or my peers in my current role, have a history of being unresponsive, so it didn't sit well with me the way it was handled by the employee.

<I should add a final disclaimer that after posting about how I would change things back and write ultimatum e-mails...I did not switch to my current job as a removal because I was a grumpy effer, I have the same boss now as I did then, initiated the change myself, and got great reviews in both jobs>

Revkah...I just noticed Erik talking about Jack Link's as a special workout treat....the guy complaining to the plant manager...he wears a Jack Link's T-shirt at least once a week...tell Erik I've appreciated all of his posts in the past, but I'm not sure I can continue to enjoy the posts of people who share the same tastes as the whining minion.

Don't know if this is really a thing.

If it isn't, it SHOULD be.

Altitudinally challenged ladies, can I get an AMEN???

Big Daddy Kane played horribly in his intramural basketball game tonight, you guys. He looked like Tyronn Lue trying to check Allen Iverson.
Horrible? I lead my team in scoring. What time do you play tonight I want to watch you play. And look out for me tonight I'll be wearing an old T-wovles Kevin Garnett jersey.

My dad was walking down the stairs in his home this evening. He misjudged, missed the last step and fell. Resulted in a broken leg below the kneecap, and a high ankle sprain.

ouch! Hope he heals quickly, that's no good.

I am now going to need to talk him and see what he actually said. I will defend that he like's jerky and it works really well for him. He prefers Matador though. I don't think he's ever been obsessed with any brand though. :)

Question for the parents out there. If your SO had a particularly ****** day at work and is taking it out unnecessarily on your kid, do you intervene, wait til it's over and discuss it later, or let it go and hope they apologize to your kid for snapping?

We always have each other's back for discipline, but my wife was getting a little snippy tonight and I could see it was bugging my daughter. I'm fine if she vents on me. I shrug it off.

I wouldn't intervene immediately, but if you can get her off to the side...that way you're giving her an out and not calling her out in front of the kid.

Oh, who am I kidding, ^^^^ that's perfect world stuff...I'd probably crack a joke or ask what was up her ***.

I would say it depends on the age of the child and if a comment would result in a fight. I have been nicely called out on snippiness in front of our one year old, but I would think any older it should really be done away from the child. I like the joke method too.
