Long Range plans for Hilton

I'm not a fan of the suite idea. You start doing things like that and you take away from a nationally respected atmosphere. If they want to improve things in the outer concourse so be it but anything inside shouldn't change.

Hilton is Division 1 Power 5 level. Jack Trice is not. As others have noted, there are improvements that can be made but these things have little to do with who is coaching and the record. The end zone project has SOME to do with the attendance (which has been pretty good regardless of record).

You mean Jack Trice WAS not. The next time anyone is in there for an actual game, it will be.

Lots of small things would make it better....unfortunately I have not been in Hilton since I went to see a concert years ago (Godsmack opened up for Metallica)...

I would think:
1. Updated video board, and advertising boards.
2. Ceiling remodel. Used to look awful and tacky.
3. New/updated lighting. Like others have suggested, dim lights for introductions, etc.
4. Johnny Orr court.
5. Melvin Ejim retired jersey.
6. More banners (Big XII champs, Final Four, etc).
7. Beer/booze.

Pretty easy stuff...Hilton doesnt need luxury suites, etc, IMHO....

Back in the late 60s and 70s, every student paid $3.00 per quarter into the Hilton, Stephens building fund. Hilton is magic. The nation knows all about Hilton Magic. I'll pay into a fund every year to make it Magical.

I dont see any room for suites. I guess we could get a bigger video board.

Hilton is somewhat unusual in that it has two concourses (outer and inner). Any sort of luxury suite wouldn't need to take out too many seats because the inner concourse is not needed. I like the idea to widen the outer concourse by moving the wall back and then using the rest of the space (plus maybe a couple rows, unfortunately) for a few luxury suites.

Hilton is great but saying "Don't change anything" is pretty shortsighted IMO. It's not some classic, historic arena from 1940 like Cameron Indoor that gets charm from its age. It's from the '70s, and it shows. We can keep everything that is great about it while still improving some of the things that could be improved.

Yeah the seats above and below would be pretty much the exact same thing.

If anything, if there was glass between the two decks it would make Hilton louder, increase attendance #s, and obviously increase revenues a lot.

And there's lots of space like you said to stretch into the outer concourse and make those suites really spacious and nice.

The inner concourse really doesn't do a whole lot for the arena other than encourage people to leave their seats early.

Don't mess with the Magic. Instead, build premiere housing for the basketball team like the big time programs do.

I'd like to see them add 500-600 seats to the lower level and concourse to get an even 15,000.

I think it's a great feature of Hilton - one can walk the entire circumference of the interior seating area and still see the court.

I don't think that's really a big positive. What's so great about that? It's not as important as something like a bunch of suites.
