Jameel McKay's First game

Prepare to be disappointed. Seriously people. It will take time. Not sure he will ever be a huge scorer. I expect better numbers by March, but give it some time.

When we finally have the whole team I will feel like:

Let him get his feet wet first. I think many are expecting wayyyyy too much from Jameel.

This. Judging by people's tweets to Jameel and the feel around here, people are expecting him to have Jahlil Okafor type numbers.

He will have decent numbers by the end of conference, but I'm not expecting a lot right away. Some good defense, lobs, and assists from Niangs for dunks is where I'm at with him right now.

Personally, I'm excited to see what he brings to our defense. Anything he does on the offensive end is just gravy.

I'm not expecting huge numbers from him, but I'm damn excited to add a rim protector to our rotation.

Also someone who will be able to score inside even if we're facing a team full of trees. Georges can typically take those guys one on one but can't expect anyone to really go into a group of defenders significantly taller than them and outscore/outrebound.

The only thing that I really expect is for crap like Gessell throwing up in the paint ends up getting rejected. No reason for that to work. Guessing 6/5/3 vs Drake.

I think we see a lot of McKay, a lot. Fred has 3 games to get him big 12 ready and the next 3 games are pretty easy so I expect to see a lot of him. Agree he will be rusty but from all indications he has serious energy that at times is hard to control and he can run the floor. I'm trying not to get overly excited but it's hard not to.

Well we did block it and get 3 points out of it in the final 4 seconds of the half friday...but it was our 6 foot point guard throwing the block party.

Similar to Abdel.....he'll need a few games to adjust (he hasn't played in a LAT...). I'm thinking OKSU is the breakout game. Except for maybe Baylor the games from here on out to right before Kansas should be comfortable wins.

Don't care about the stats tbh, just the energy. Dude is athletic, he'll make an impact. Dustin Hogue is a terrific athlete and it's incredibly obvious every time he plays, even if his stats don't show it (not saying that they don't, they often do). Jameel will be similar, I reckon. Of course, I'm sure he'll get some nice stats too - this is Hoiball, after all

If Jameel is a taller version of Hogue...watch out for the Cyclones. If Hogue had Jameel's build and still played the way he does he'd have possibly left for the draft last year.

My question: how long before McKat leads the team on blocks? Monte currently leads with 8. My guess is McKat takes the lead in the SC game.

I'd bet he gets quite a few minutes, due to the lack of games for him to shake the rust off before conference starts. I'd bet he starts slow much like Abdel did, but still gets a double-double. How about

11 pts, 10 reb, 2 blocks, 2 assists, 3 TOs

He'll start Saturday. People will read many things into it, good and bad.

I agree. If I am CFH I start him for his first game and see what he can do right out of the gate.

Morris, Long, Dejean-Jones, Niang, McKay starting five for Drake IMO. Hogue, Thomas, and Nader substituted in liberally.

6 points 8 rebounds 2 blocks. I don't expect a whole lot from him offensively because this is his first game, but I expect him to influence what happens around the rim.
