No way we get left out if there's a break away, but the only way I see us going to the big 10 is if the power conferences break away and then realign among themselves
Exactly! The only thing we'd be good for is basketball (sort of) and wrestling (historically more than lately -> which considering how popular wrestling is now, this is no argument). The only reason a conference wants us is if they need more "cannon fodder" for their upper tier teams.
Because they thought they were the Big Dogs and when they realized they were not, developed self-esteem issues?
It is time to figure out how to hire a competent coaching staff and start fielding every damn kick-off.
I think there is an unintentional* bias (not conspiracy) against ISU, and other non-brand name schools, but that will exist no matter where you go. It is best we concentrate on becoming a brand name.
*Exception being KU basketball. Those mother-****ers get the benefit of some really shady calls.

There's a chance at the SEC, but only if the NCAA or someone rules that they can't schedule that late season creampuff game anymore, so they go looking for one they can integrate cheaply.
Unless we got the Mizzou deal, we'd be in the SEC West, which gets us 4-6 top 12 teams every year. Then we can really complain about the schedule, and pretend that Jack Trice in November would slow Alabama or Auburn down.

None of the major five conferences probably want us. If any of them would I'm sure we would have heard by now. If Pollard wants to try to talk somebody into taking us so be it, but the chance anybody wants us is unlikely enough the best thing to do for the time being is to ride it out and hope we find a good home the next time realignment hits.
I'd like to know which conference you think is going to take us in at this moment. And if you say MAC or MWC, you might as well stop building the SEZ and throw every facilities upgrade plan in the incinerator because ISU Athletics will be DOA. And by the way, if ISU makes that kind of a move WILLINGLY, you can do whatever you wish with my ISU gear because I will be done. I will refuse to cheer for a team that willingly moves to a lesser conference and destroy itself in the process, alma mater be damned.

A real man takes action. A real man controls his own fate. ISU should go independent like Notre Dames and Mormons. Doesn't ISU have a religious founding? If not, then here is a good chance to bring glory to G_d and also show pride. There are tons of Christian TVs out there that would rally behind a team with good old fashioned Midwestern values. Instead of rooting on a team that looks like it fell out da hood, millions would like to root for real Americans who know that value of hard work.
