Cut, simmered, and ran 40 pounds of tomatoes thru the food mill this morning, have about 4 gallons of tomato juice simmering down, should end up with about 2-3 gallons of tomato sauce. Going to add onions, peppers, garlic, and spices, then can in quarts.

Final tally, 14 quarts and an orphan pint.

One thing I'm looking forward to in retirement is starting to do these kinds of things again - jelly & jam, tomato sauce, grape juice, canned fruits...

I just never have the time or energy when working...

If you learn anything from this thread, it's that there's NEVER pie. I'm pretty certain none of them even know how to actually make it.

True, although cowgirl could drive the "few" miles to Gays Mills now that the Pie Depot is open ... who am I kidding - she would have DH drive to Gays Mills.

Every time I see the ice water challenge on Facebook I get ******. What did you just accomplish? I bet most of those people don't even know what ALS stands for. How about you donate money instead of trying to fit in and be cool by pouring water on your head.
