Getting into a bar with no I.D.

I bet they'll make accommodations for a guy who's willing to spend exactly $0 at their bar!

Somewhat sarcastic. ...

The only guaranteed way to get into a bar without an ID is to be an attractive female.

old man costume should do the trick.

Actually they do and they would most likely confiscate the ID if you tried using it.

I've seen friends use expired. If they check the expiration, then the bouncer usually just hands it right back and says that he can't accept it.

I was a door guy for a two years in college. Now this was a college bar but we would have older people from time to time come in without an ID. I would get my manager and make him make the judgement call.

On a side note, I turned the fakes into my manager pending they did not look like anyone I knew that was underage....

Greying hair works for me.

With me its "Would you like the senior discount?" which sort of bummed me out (trying to date myself myself via slang here) when I was asked that for the first time a few weeks ago. I had never been asked before because I don't look as old as I am. Must be getting past that point now! Maybe I should shave the gray beard.

I am picturing our OP like the guy from Foreigner’s Jukebox Hero:

Standing in the rain with his head hung low
Had lost his ID, no way into the show
Heard the roar of the crowd, he could picture the scene
Put his ear to the wall, then like a distant scream
He heard one guitar, just blew him away

It may just be me but how do you not know where your id is? Do you regularly take it out of your wallet and or not drive?

I guess I was always taught to pretty much have it on you at all times when you leave the house for identification purposes should something bad happen.

Maybe a nice officer already "found" it for him . . . during a traffic stop.
