What Was Your High School Mascot?

Trenton Trojans, then
Air Academy Cadets, then
Glasgow Dragons.

Michigan then Colorado then Delaware.

Muscatine Muskies. Used to have Indian logo. Now a spear after political issues. Used to have an indian(regional tribe Muscatine was named for) as a live mascot at games, then it was a fish, now a gorilla i hear. We used to call the nascot Mojo or something like that.

Countdown on how long until spear is called violent and terroristic and must be removed.

One of my favorites is the Interstate 35 Roadrunners!
My Dad was a Roadrunner, class of 1966. Currently living in the Prole Metroplex.

I was a Cougar, surprised to not see more of those around this thread, seems pretty common.

Other unique ones I haven't seen here:
Bellevue Comets
Beckman Blazers (insert pot reference here)
DeWitt Sabers
And I checked, and the Comanche Indians still exist.

Ahh, the old Big Bend conference. We hardly knew ye.

I only scanned the thread so sorry if this was already mentioned.

I drove through Freeport Illinois today and they are the pretzels. Strikes fear into any opponent.

Up until the 80s Pekin, IL was the Chinks.

I personally have been a bulldog and a wildcat before I became a cyclone

Something in the water in Illinois seems to cause odd sports nicknames. Examples:

already mentioned Freeport Pretzels
Genoa-Kingston Cogs
Rochelle Hubs
DeKalb Barbs
Fisher Bunnies
Centralia Orphans
Teutopolis Wooden Shoes

Isn't there a Zippers, too?

I remember thinking, "that's not really too frightening" until one time one of my co-workers got his junk jammed in the zipper teeth of his fly. He had to go to the emergency room.

After that I had a new appreciation for their potential to cause immense pain.

Railsplitters

Was on a beach in Hawaii once with an ISU hat on and this old rich dude (brought a bunch of his kids and grandkids to Hawaii to celebrate his birthday) started chatting me up about Iowa. Said he was from DSM so I asked what high school. He said Lincoln and I yelled RAILS! He loved it but his family looked at me like I had three heads...it was like he'd never discussed his high school with them. Anyway, I always thought that was the best nickname for a school named after a president.

He must have skipped the beginning of the thread.

Then you'd love the mascot of TE Alex Leslie. The New Braunfels (TX) Unicorns.

My cousins played football there and they have a hand signal...you make a "hang loose" sign and put it up to your forehead, lol.

How could you forget the Anamosa Blue Raiders? I don't know why they had to give them a color.

Don't forget the Lockport Porters.

A friend of mine, where his kids went to school, they were called the Knights. Which isn't remarkable at all until you notice they were Fulton Unity Christian Knights.

Someone didn't think that through.

I was curious about my former high school mascot (Ballard Bombers) wondering if they'd changed from the B-52 over the years so I did a quick google search. How bizarre is it that there is more than one high school named the Ballard Bombers? One in Iowa and one in Barlow, Kentucky! One is Red & White, the other Green & White.
