***Official American Craft Beer Week Thread***

Stopped in at Toppling Goliath yesterday and had a mug of 1492 IPA (single hop Columbus), and then had a Prairie Funky Galaxy and Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold while watching hockey.

Drinking a Sierra Nevada Summerfest right now.

I'll have to get into to TG again this week since they're putting out their Millenium Falcon APA to celebrate Craft Beer Week. Or just have my wife bring a few growlers home.
Great Lakes has some really good stuff. Where do you find it?

My brother is coming in to town on Friday for our cousins wedding this weekend. I'll be opening this (on the left):

I'm going to visit Cantillon in September. I've never had it but by the reviews I've seen, I think I'll like it a lot. I wish I could ship a case home without it costing so much.

I've gotten some Peticolas here and there, but never more than a couple pints. Another brewery in that area is Community, they are about a year old, pretty good stuff there too (Mosaic IPA is one of the best I've had)
I second Community's Mosaic IPA. My friend brought some back from TX and it was delicious.

Just bring an extra bag to check when you fly back.

Picked up a six-pack of something called Bud Light Platinum. Whoo-weee, coach; this stuff is great! One sip and it feels like I'm in the VIP lounge at one of Miami's finest nightclubs, partying with Pitbull while Afrojack rocks the joint.

5/5

Tallgrass Brewing out of Manhattan, KS makes Buffalo Sweat and a Pub Ale that are equally good. Both are chilling on the mini fridge on my deck.

I also like Buffalo Sweat

Have you tried Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast (bomber) or Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout(bomber)? Both excellent.

I've tried Rogue Shakespeare Oatmeal Stout (it's been awhile), but not Mikkeller. I'll look for it.

Buffalo Sweat is such a bad *** beer. Smoothest stout I've ever tasted.

Personally I can't wait to back up to my hometown in northeast Iowa this weekend which is only ten minutes from Decorah. Definitely going to hit up Toppling Goliath and fill up a couple of growlers!

Don't mean to hijack a thread, but my wife and I are driving out to Montana and Glacier national park this summer. Route is a bit TBD through the Dakotas.

But we're planning on giving ourselves a few days to get there and see the local culture - which means local brews and pubs. Mostly in the Montana area, but perhaps ND and SD as well.

If anyone has BEEN to any place along the would be route - I'd appreciate some tips on breweries to hit.

Zip Line Brewing Co in Lincoln makes an awesome altbier. Copper Alt. it is fantastic and I will be picking up some tonite.

I may have to do this. I'll have to make sure it's really protected though.

I've got some styrofoam shippers that would probably fit 6...5 for you and one for me . When I brought some bottles back from Texas I packed an extra suitcase just full of towels. When I came home, I taped the caps, sealed the bottles in ziplock bags, and then wrapped them each in towels. Everything made it home safe. If you need some help or tips on transporting, let me know, I've done it plenty of times.
