Think what Georges and teach Giorgos down low on the blocks. His mentoring will create this kid into a stud in a couple years.

You are right. I did grow up in a Spanish speaking country and my family always said the T was silent, since there are no Spanish words with a letter combination like "ts". In English, yes. Very subtle t blended in with the s. Good catch!

Thanks, and you have been pretty much on with all of your other info. Interesting that Spanish influence. That said, a lot of people probably do ignore the t because it is easier in English not to say it.

Right. The T will be imperceptible for most Anglos. It's like the DZ in Polish names, it's typically given a "J" sound by Anglos, i.e. Jeff "Smarja" (ND / Chicago Cubs).

Do you think this is who Matt A. had in mind when he said we would win Newcomer of the Year again next year?

No, considering we didn't know about him until last week.

That and he wouldn't even qualify for Newcomer of the Year because he isn't a transfer

If anybody it was probably BDJ...but I have a feeling Matt was just displaying his confidence in Hoiberg getting another quality 5th year transfer...and then making him better.

Agree with first part...and while I can't find any info on it, unless "Newcomer of the year" and "Freshman of the year" are separate awards, I think a freshman can win newcomer.

The kid has extremely quick feet for 7'1". Just remember he just turned 17. He will fill out that frame and the upper body strength/explosion will come with time.

Best case scenario he could develop into a dominating presence (Frank Kaminsky type). Worst case scenario the kid shows up on campus and doesn't develop in the slightest. If that happens...well...Adam Woodbury just committed to Iowa State.

Two best things I see about this from his videos:

- Innate ability to move to space without the ball
- Very good looking free throw stroke.

Anyone know when Fred can officially comment on this kid? Is it just when he enrolls in school?

Lucky for Giorgos, he'll get actual coaching and have a chance to improve as opposed to just being yelled at and punched by a psycho.

And spit on, never forget the spit flinging:
