Des Moines eats?

I hope you're kidding

In Dallas now, haven't had it in probably at least a year. Always thought it was good, I take it you disagree?

EDIT: Saw your second post. Yea, I'd probably put Smokey D's ahead of it, and maybe Jethros although I've had 1 or 2 bad experiences there.

I'll jump in.

Just seems like an odd choice given he's got one shot to entertain his out of town guest and you send him to this little place in a boring strip center in Johnston. If you're doing that, it has to be hands down the best damn BBQ in the metro....maybe the midwest... to make up for the lack of anything else. I'd find it hard to find too many people that would put Cactus Bob's up there ahead of Smokey's, Woody's, Uncle Wendells, or Jethro's.

Honestly - don't you think the guys going to be like...really? This is the one place you chose of all the places in Des Moines ? Quite the happening town you got here.

Haha, I will say when you put it like that, makes a lot of sense. Definitely a lot better Des Moines foods. My dad helped design the kitchen and knows the guy that runs it so maybe I have a little more love for it than I should.

That being said, yea I guess I would suggest it to someone living in DSM, not just visiting. Lot better places to try and that aren't in a crappy strip mall.

So.... Urbandale Cafe? :jimlad:

I'd probably say the original Jethro's in the Drake neighborhood (apparently feeling BBQ), cant go wrong with many suggestions above though.

McDonalds
Burger King
Wendy's
Arby's
Perkins
Village Inn
Long John Silver
Hardees
Casey's

We got it all bruh

Felix and Oscar's deep dish Pizza is unparalleled in Iowa IMO. It's not quite Gino's East, but pretty damn close. Pretty crappy location right by Merle Hay Mall, but it is delicious.

Just had a delightful lunch at Exile Brewery this past Saturday. I strongly recommend the Mame beer.

If this trip is expensed.... 801 Chophouse -- 16 oz Ribeye (tuscan style) with a side of asparagus and a few beers of your choice.

I think most of my favorites have already been mentioned, but I thought I'd throw out a couple more downtown options I like that I didn't see in here yet:

Gateway Market: good if he's looking for a quick lunch one of the days he's up here
Exile Brewery
Dos Rios
