ISU Band-Representing in NYC

I had no idea Applebee's was even open at 9:00 a.m. Having chaperoned a lot of trips, when kids are on foot, places are busy, and they only have an hour to wolf down food, they often go to a place where they don't have to wait.

Yea, that was my thinking. If it was like KC where you're there for multiple days and you've got lots of downtime, I'm sure more band people would be trying to find cool places near the arena. If they just arrived this morning and they've got an hour to shove food down their gullets before playing a pep rally or something, give those kids a break.

Yes sir, we had a bunch of time for dinner in KC once and were at the Plaza, so I took a bunch of people to Jack Stack. We had to wait forever for seats, but boy was that delicious..

Not a very accurate tweet actually. A few people might have gone to Applebee's but we had over half the band at Stardust Diner. Turns out we actually do a lot of exploring on these trips. Local restaurants and the sights are what most people do. Although sometimes you do need a cheap food.

In his defense...."a few people" is probably "the entire" UCONN band. #midmajor

Yeah, kinda tough to hide calling an ambulance from the director...

The stupid thing is, he told me his diabetes wasn't that affected by the drinking, but because he didn't get enough food that day while we were at the game.

We got to watch the NIT games from the stands and we were back in marching band in the fall.

When I was walking around there were so many places that had 2 slices of Pizza and a soda for $2.75. Best $3 I ever spent in my life.

I heard a report there was a group of people leaving a NYC Applebees wearing read and chanting...

Times square is really a rectangle.
Times square is really a rectangle.
Times square is really a rectangle.

and

Hey Bloomberg, Your shoe's untied.
Hey Bloomberg, Your shoe's untied.
Hey Bloomberg, Your shoe's untied.

So yeah I think our band was there.
