Only Big 12 Team Left

This time of year, it is all about teams. Fred and Co. will take care of themselves and battle to get to the Final 4 and a National Championship. Who cares that the rest of the league tanked? Let's keep advancing and worry about ourselves.

Yes, the top 3 of the Big 10 is top heavy.... and now that the SEC has had 3 teams make it this far, they're supposed to be awesome as a league? It is just dumb conversation to me. (Those top 3 teams don't make up an entire conference, they're just good on their own.)

OK State has gotten the least from the most talent the last two years, probably in the country. 0-2 NCAA record with this group of talent, wtf.

Big 12 had a lot of good teams, but not too many elite teams... and the top teams are without their top big men.

I thought Self ****** that tournament game down his leg. Perry-Ellis and Wiggins should have been getting touches every single time down the court and it seemed like the "supporting cast" were the ones doing all the shooting. I bet a lot of KU fans were none too happy about that either.

Just when I thought I may be able to muster a little respect for Scott Drew and Baylor they lay a major egg. There is no shame in losing to a good Wisconsin team but the never even showed up.

They got out coached and out played.

True.. but at the same time, the reverse was true when they faced the 3 seed. Really, the last half of the years was maybe Drew's best coaching job.

Odds of ISU playing in Omaha as a six seed next year: .0000001%

They were playing their best basketball but also got a very favorable draw. I highly doubt we're in Omaha next year if we're not a top ten team.

Play tonight's game first and worry about the rest later. This will be a tough one on a non-neutral court.

B12 was overrated. Lots of quality depth - but in reality, KU and ISU were the only teams playing at a top 15/20 level all year.

depends…a league loaded with 70% top 50 ranked teams is still a lot harder to have a good record in than just about any of the other conferences. Overrated in terms of the NC coming out of our league sure, not overrated in difficulty of having a good record.

The Big 12 was the toughest conference in the regular season this year. The NCAA performance does not change that. Match-ups, locations, and the injuries in our case, play a big part in how things played out. Case in point, does anyone really think Dayton is a top 8 team?

Well put, it makes me wonder if on a given year I'd rather have a top heavy league with a chance for a team or two to win a NC or a difficult top to bottom league where almost every team has a shot at the tournament but unlikely to see anyone go deep.

The only title contenders, ISU and KU, had big injuries. The rest of the teams weren't top teams, they were all mid range teams (I would rank them 20-50). They, OU, Texas, K State, WVU, etc. played above their level at home in conference play. Baylor got it going at the end of the year but that team just didn't have balls - if they get down they give up - you could see it on their faces last night. Okie State just had way too many issues to overcome this year.

Big 12 has 4 excuses for the tournament performance:

1) Seeding. Most teams mostly played to their seeds.
2) Embiid injury.
3) Niang injury.
4) Scott Drew. (But he's being so nice to ISU it's harder to poke fun at him.)

This.

The Big12 hasn't had a team not named KU in the Final Four since 2004. We really need another elite team to rise up in this league. I hope it's us.

I'm calling it right now. Barring injuries, ISU will be a Top 10 team next year.
