Any update on Shontrelle Johnson?

Good question. After all, there are often random updates, provided in the middle of summer, a week away from even the conference media day...

Just bored?

I wonder if there is any chance he red shirts. He still has one, right?

I was wondering that too because he still has it. With white woody and wimberly up there i think it would be smart for him to redshirt to avoid injuring it further and just take the year to get healthy. Because usually after your second acl tear youre done completely.

It would be smart for him to redshirt. That would only help him heal and it gives him the chance to be the featured back the next season. With Richardson starting and Johnson healthy and the number 1 guy, it would only help his draft stock.

I don't think he would be the number one back in that season. In fact, he could be number 3. Honesty I wouldn't mind seeing a move to slot to take Jarvis' spot.

None of the above. If he is healthy, I want him back and contributing. He is due for a great season.

He would DEFINITELY not be in the number 3 spot, he has too much talent and athleticism. He would also never play slot since he has spent three or four years (depending if he redshirts) on playing the running back position. HE is too much of an asset on offense and it would be a waste to not have him as a feature back with wimberly and Nealy backing him up. Knee injuries and Neck injuries are no joke and should be taking seriously. They should wait till they fully heal before putting pads on.

The reality is unfortunately he has had an injury-ridden career and for that reason, the staff has no incentive to allow him to redshirt when they are already recruiting over him for the future. He is NOT a feature back, never was and any argument to the contrary is ridiculous. He is set up to have a productive senior year and be a contributor on a team that needs to find a spark (or 10) on offense. All four backs will have an opportunity to prove it on the field but in my humbled opinion there is no sense in redshirting a player on the hopes that his skill level/health will drastically change with an extra year of conditioning. Here's to hoping Shontrelle has a great senior year, the best accomplishment any departing Cyclone can ask for.

I like the idea to move him to the slot. His best plays come catching it out of the backfield. He has good hands and that puts him in open space without needing six jukes to get to the second level.
