NBA: *** NBA Playoffs Thread V2.0 ***

Why did LeBron go to Miami? For a supporting cast. Well so much for that supporting cast. Meanwhile, the Cavs have improved their roster with Kyrie Irving, Dion Waiters, and soon to be number 1 pick Nerlens Noel (unless there is a trade). They could easily sign LeBron back and the starting five would be playoff caliber every year (Irving, Waiters, James, Thompson, Noel). It's going to happen.

LeBron James is averaging 35 points in game 7's. So you can count on him scoring that amount.

That will be his baseline scoring. I bet he score at least 6 more points than that.

The Pacers need to come out with a fire in Game 7. Just be uber aggressive and make the Heat uncomfortable.

Also, the Pacers have an incredibly bright future. If you look at there salary situation, they are in a perfect place.

HoopsHype - NBA Salaries - Indiana Pacers

Danny Granger will be in the last year of his contract so they can use him as trade bait.
Paul George will be under his rookie contract until 2014-2015
Roy Hibbert is under contract for the next 3 years at 14.5 mill a year.
George Hill is under contract for the next 4+ years at 8 mill a year.
The major salary questions will be about David West, Lance Stephenson, and DJ Augustin. Both can become FA this summer and I wonder if the Pacers will re-sign them and for how much?
The Pacers will be about 10 million under the cap next year (with West and Augustin becoming FA's)

Ridiculous salary item: Ian Mahinmi is being paid 4 million a year for the next 3 years. He's being paid more than Paul George!

Are the Pacers willing to go over the cap? West is going to get paid well above 10 million a year

David West is 32 years old. If I'm Indiana, I sign him to a 3 year 20 million dollar contract. 10 million a year is too much for his age and he did have that major knee injury not too long ago. However, he has played well, and I think about 7 mill a year is worth is age.

Another team will probably offer him a ridiculous contract, so he will have a decision to make. The Pacers just have to make sure they have enough money to re-sign Paul George in 2 years.

This might be one of those cases where the player is worth more to his current franchise than he is to the rest of the league. His game is well suited to the Pacers' style of play, which runs counter to the small ball up tempo drive and kick game trend that a lot of NBA teams employ now. Plus his game isn't predicated on athleticism, so the things he can do at age 32 might not be all that different from what he can still do at 36. I wouldn't be afraid of a four or even five year deal if it means a little less against the cap per year.

The 2014/15 salary situation for the Warriors is outstanding. Have Curry for 10 mil, Lee for 15, Harrison for 3, Thompson for 4.5, and Draymond Green for 1. Room to add anyone they'd want.

That's a great situation, but I would take Indiana's even without David West. I think Hibbert is more valuable than Curry, straight up because it is so difficult to find a big that good offensively.

That is damn ridiculous. The funniest salary cap situation is the Lakers. Over 100 million dollars for a useless team.

Feeling very uneasy about tonight. Miami's done the Game 7 thing before; this is uncharted territory for the Pacers. I can't decide which would be a worse way to lose - Lebron scoring 50 and beating them by himself, or Bosh and Wade bouncing back and coming up huge so that we can enjoy almost a full week of blogs, columns and Sportscenter features about how the Big Three are back. I hope Indy just beats them so we can avoid it altogether.

I feel for you Pacer's fans. This is going to be a long day for you guys until the game starts. Try not to have a nervous breakdown.

I think the worse way to lose would be for Bosh to go for 30 points...I figure that's what is going to happen.

Cleveland was already going to be good.

Now the #1 pick and maybe LeBron comes back. Wow
