Can the winning team be butt hurt?

I enjoy viewing the opposition's board when we lose,
and I was surprised at what I saw over at the Phog
message board.
I can't remember ever seeing as many post game threads that focus
on slamming the losers as much as I've seen there.
The top 2 volume threads are "F"-ISU type threads, "we should of dunked to
close the game" statements etc. I think those 2 previous overtime
games must of scared them up a bit. KU is a classic program with
a basketball tradition to be proud of.......it would be disappointing if the
fan base couldn't match it.

Yeah, I think it bothered them quite a bit that the world (at least sports world) knew they didn't really win the game in Ames.

Screw them. They hate us. I hate them.

I do think the Great Bill Self is slightly concerned that little old Fred Hoiberg is back there.

Self knows that we're coming. The fan base is worried - you can tell just by looking at the ESPN boards. They are more concerned about calling us whiners than about celebrating their own team.

KU fans know that Iowa State is best positioned to dethrone their chippy program. Weber at KSU is not something that is going to last.

Guess I didn't realize one could win
and whine....KU fans had nothing but
good things to say about us in the past,
and our fan base hasn't changed...other
than we now are a threat. I do like Self
(minus the embarrassing melt down)
and their players stay outta trouble and
seem like a quality group of young men.
The only reason I can imagine KU fans
morphing into the "new Missouri" is fear.
Amusing huh?

I think throwing stuff at their players after the last game may have changed their view of our fan base.

Yeah, we have idiots that toss plastic
cups and they have tools that quote
"love the taste of Fred's 8 year old son's
tears"......is it just me, or does that
come off as very creepy?

That is extremely perverted.

I think that you need to at some point win though to make it an official rivalry. The fact that everyone and their Mom knows we actually won the game in Ames helps. But we cannot get blown out by them by 15 and still keep it a rivalry. I know looking at the ISU v Iowa football rivalry game, it didn't really start being a "Rivalry" until we started beating them more than losing to them.

The fact I absolutely HATE and abhor Kansas was nothing new. However I never minded Hairpiece until this year, I kinda liked him but this year I have distaste for him for some odd reason. This also makes the rivalry more intense.

The announcers and studio were constantly mentioning that ISU actually won game 2 of the 3 games. That drives fans with the KU basketball or Nebraska football mindset absolutely insane.

Even as the studio ended it's broadcast they brought up the fact that KU lost in Ames.

Frankly I don't care what they say, I for one will embrace a very heated rivalry KU if this is what it is going to become. We need a die hard rival. Also, **** KU.

Personally, I'd rather have a solo cup
or towel tossed my way than to have
multiple KU fans lusting for the taste
of my son's tears.
But hey, that's just me

CycloneNorth: Always the "Anti-fan" or just a troll?

I just think too often we see everything through cardinal and gold colored glasses. After the last game we played we had fans throw stuff at their players and tweet racist threatening messages. Obviously this doesn't represent our entire fan base, but it is easy for KU fans to point to these actions just like we point out 2 or 3 of their fans talking about Hoiberg's kid.

KU has a couple of fans who say mean things about ISU on the internet. I don't think that makes it worth hating on their entire program, fan base, and school.

I was calling them out that none of them show up on the football boards. Bunch of fairweather d-bags with a little man complex.

I have news for you...most KU fans were like that before that game in Ames...and they always have been...living in KC I witness it constantly...
