***OFFICIAL BIG 12 EXPANSION THREAD 2.0***

I agree and somewhat disagree with him. I think conferences would try to squeeze out the ISU, KSU, Miss St, WSU types if they thought it could make them a buck, but I also think that's when the major trials and government squeeze starts.

Yeah, ISU got a lot of bad press because of the Big XII almost falling apart. But schools like Washington State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, etc... wouldn't fare any better if their conferences collapsed.

I can't believe how many of you guys are on here flapping your gums about ISU academics after having watched this stuff play out over the last few years. Academics don't count for **** in all of this. All that matters is your ability to feed the football revenue machine for the conference, and for that ISU doesn't deliver jack. Any expansion scenarios that involve the Big 12 dissolving should concern any rational ISU fan for that exact reason. As soon as we find ourselves out looking for a home, we realize we don't have much to offer in regards of what our new potential land lords are looking for.

I'm not wearing any cardinal glasses.

After you have Texas, OU, and KU, what team in the Big 12 is the next most valuable to the PAC? ISU is. We bring 3 million more TV's, AAU status, and packed crowds for football and basketball.

I'm just going to assume that you're high right now.

Again, who's been demoted?

So what exactly are we lacking that will get us demoted?

When does the Big XII dissolve and why? How does ISU get demoted, exactly?

For the love of beer we are fine people.

No reason to lose sleep over it currently. But to think that everything is perfectly fine forever and that there is no chance of ISU not always being in a power conference is naive. Until 2026 we should be perfectly fine. After that, who knows?

Well by then teams will be in divisions and be a D League team for the NFL:) Not saying everything is rainbows and sunshine, but as of now we are fine so why worry?

The Big XII dissolves for whatever reason and ISU doesn't get an invite to a power conference.

See: The SWC two decades ago. The Big East right now.

Okay, what's the reason? Wasn't the Big XII proactive in the GoR signings?

The SWC killed itself. Also, SMU, Rice, TCU etc. were not demoted. There were no AQ conferences to be demoted from when the SWC went ****-up.

Which Big East teams will not be playing in an AQ league next season?

Because you say so? Bloggers? Jon Miller?

In the past two years ISU has been given a great gift, hysteria. Now, job one for every ISU AD is staying in major college football. We will. If we want to.

If the Big Ten goes beyond 16 and makes cash doing it, unfortunately I think we're in for another round of musical chairs with ISU being at the mercy of others...unless the Big 12 gets proactive fast.

If it happens, **** it, it happens I still support my Cyclones. I understand nothing is a guarantee, but I feel much better with who is running the show for our conference now then before.

Sadly, you're in a tiny minority. If ISU loses AQ (or equivalent) status our AD is doomed. ISU fans are setting record attendance numbers because we feel like PR can get us to the promised land - a Big XII title. Take that carrot away and you take away the vast majority of fans. ISU stands to be severely financially damaged by demotion. We're in an all or nothing situation and there's too much money on the line to lose. If that means involving senators, congressmen and a battalion of lawyers then that's what will happen.

If the B1G goes to 16 or more the Sec will atleast go to 16 quickly after. Thats atleast 4 ACC schools that will be gone with only Cincy, UCONN and USF as schools that have been in AQ conferences left for the ACC to go after.

My ideal world... BIG10 picks up to 20 or something. That causes the BIG12 and SEC to merge into a 24 team league two two divisions. We could call one the Big 12, current 10 teams and throw Mizzou and A&M back and the SEC could go back to its original 12 teams. Money would be pretty nice.
