Jerry Myles - MBB recruit

check the us news rankings brah

its not close on which school is better academically

Yes, because judging schools on certain arbitrarily chosen criteria makes it the end all be all definition of which school is better. I can find certain lists where ISU is ranked much more highly than it is in US News. It all depends on which random factors you deem important and hence decide to weigh heavily.

Sourcing US News? Good lord, did you copy and paste wiki for your thesis? Heck, many of the most well regarded universities have refused to participate in its reputation rankings. Outside of the general consensus of the top schools, it is better to look at it in terms of tiers. To someone serious about academics, the difference between Iowa and Iowa State is insignificant and comparing either to Creighton is apples to oranges. This reminds me of a discussion of which is better to a kid from Chicago, Iowa City or Ames. They are both the same.

why is there such a sense of superiority for isu's academics over iowa's then on here when all rankings say the opposite?

I am thinking that ole' Roy comes sniffing around about his junior year. This is just a hunch of mine, nothing in the history of state of Iowa recruits led me to come up with this theory...

Iowa seems to be a little more aggressive towards Myles than us.

the Iowa vs. ISU academic argument is futile in regard to Myles recruitment.

I am sick of not being a factor in in-state recruiting. It's too hard to get talented players to visit and like Iowa, to not be a player for the small handful of recruits that the state does produce.

We need to land this kid.

We might...

but there's an inherent advantage here. To go to Ames, he needs to pass through Iowa City. So if he's got a weekend free to make a visit, its easy to go to Iowa. Even on a week night. If he was from Jefferson, IA - it'd be easier.

Regardless, there is a LONG way to go on this kid's recruitment.

Close to home: Iowa-yep, Creighton-sort of, Nebraska-sort of, ISU-yep
Safe campus: Iowa-sketchy, Creighton-nope, Nebraska-decent, ISU-yep
Good school: Iowa-yep, Creighton-yep, Nebraska-hell no, ISU-yep

We win. See you in Cardinal and Gold JM

Disagree here. Iowa's perfectly safe, unless you're a girl and you hang around with Iowa athletes :jimlad:

The only thing to be scared of at Iowa is the cops. Also, if your ranking academics iowa and isu are very close but id give edge to iowa for admissions standard, national reputation, and med school/law school. Not a huge difference.

Undergraduate academics at ISU and Iowa vary wildly by major. The schools compliment each other well.

One other thing to mention about this kid.....if he is only 14 and already 6 4, it is pretty likely he is not done growing. My guess would be that he is not likely to be a point guard by his senior year in high school. More likely a shooting guard or small forward/wing. His recruitment has a very long ways to go.

It really hurts us that des Moines hardly ever produces any good players.

the general area has produced probably the best three iowa players in the 2000s in korver and mcdermott and barnes

its too bad the first 2 had to leave the state since isu and iowa werent interested

cr area seems to send a lot of kids d1 but they dont really amount to much

I'm probably taking Hinrich and Collison over Korver.
