Tuberville's thoughts on the game

Tubbs has been pretty reserved in a lot of the interviews I listened to on DoubleT 1043 or whatever. He just refused to flat out come and say the defense was "good". Improved yes, but seems he's on a wait and see basis with the defense.

Perhaps the defense has gotten shredded by the offense in scrimmages? I don't know or he's just suspect and hopes its going to be able to slow down Big 12 offenses.

You are probably right about the scrimmages. He doesn't want to hype the defense in the media because then it will look like terrible coaching if they get shredded. He is probably hoping that the Tech offense is just that good and nobody else in the Big XII will be quite as good so the defense has a chance.

Take it from someone who has listened to Tuberville for over 2 years now. This is as excited and optimistic as he gets. For two years now he's told Tech fans straight up that we don't have the players to compete for championships, we don't have the depth, or the talent yet. He hasn't blown any smoke, and he's been absolutely spot on. Now he's actually optimistic about this team, saying we finally have a two deep and can be competitive with everyone in the conference. It's nice to see him finally saying we have a decent team because he knows more about football than anyone I've ever listened to.

What happens if Tech loses on Saturday night to ISU? What happens if they lose bad? What would the reaction look like in Lubbock and how ugly would it be for Tubs?

Tubs would find his seat a bit warm, probably. He would have to win against OU and a combo of UT or WVU to keep the fanbase, probably. No small feat.

Tuberville needs to get this team winning again and right now.

Agreed with Stanley, his seat would get very warm and he would need to win almost every other game to make up for it, or have Iowa State win 10 or 11 games for the fan base to forgive him for a loss in Ames.

Prepare yourselves for disappointment, I'm afraid. Leach is gone and you're back to reality.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Spike Dy kes (profanity filter LOL) was a successful coach at Texas Tech. Mike Leach was a successful coach too. Neither got us to the big game. We haven't exactly been living in fantasy land. We are trying to get there!

It's crazy to think that even if Tuberville loses on Saturday he'll still have a better winning % at Tech than Rhoads at ISU. Tech fans will want Tuberville firmly on the hot seat, and most ISU fans worship Rhoads. Just different levels of expectation I suppose.

I've never seen a fanbase so sure of themselves, aside from the lil' hawks. You guys are almost worse.

You haven't been here for the last 2 weeks. And I wasn't just referring to this thread.
