Car remote starter question

So my remote starter for my car is on the fritz...
Last night one of the buttons got stuck on the remote. So when I got home I took it apart and took the battery out to try and fix it. Then my car started up in the garage. So I took it back apart and took the battery out and left it. Couple hours later car starts in the garage again. So I go and get the extra remote and take the battery out of that one too. Wake up around 4am this morning to let the dog out, car is running in the garage......

I think you can get where I am going here.
Anyone by chance know how I can disable this thing, it hasn't started again yet this morning since I have driven it yet, but I still want to do something. By the passenger door I found a box mounted with a bunch of wiring harnesses there, that I think might be it. But I don't want to do anything else till I get some thoughts.

Is it a manufactured installed remote starter? If so I think on my 07 Chevy there is a way to disable it in one of the dash menus somehow. Look in the owner manual maybe?

I have no idea what brand it is but I think it is aftermarket. And I don't think anyone has been trying to kill me, but my power wash off again for like 6 hours this morning maybe someone is trying to get me!!!!!

Who installed the remote starting system? I would call them and find out how to disable it. If someone you know installed it, call them. But somewhere, somehow the system has to get juice from your vehicle battery so if you find out where it's getting it's power, you can disable it that way till you get it fixed. It might be wired into the fuse panel and you can take out the fuse, if the person installing it put the wire only to that fuse, or sometimes when people do it themselves there might be a wire that somehow connects to the + terminal on the batter and you can take it off there. Or just unhook the wire harness until you know because having a car run in your garage unattended while your in the house is not a good situation.

If it's aftermarket then I have no idea but if it was installed by the car manufacturer when the car was built there is probably something in the manual for disabling it.

Mine came standard on my car and I really don't use it a whole lot since I park it in the garage and I'm never close enough anywhere else to start it in advance to make much of a difference before I get in or have to scrape the ice off.

My explorer has that problem when I use the remote to lock the doors, it will just randomly start. I looked in the owners manual to see if there was a fuse i could take out to get the remote start disabled but there were none.

I seriously think my explorer is haunted.

Has anyone ever installed one of these on their own? I am looking to get one for my wife's vehicle and I was wondering how difficult it would be to install myself. I consider myself to be mechanically inclined, but I don't know a ton about automotive wiring. Would I be better off just paying someone to install it for me? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I know it is made by a company called ungo, I did not have it installed on this car so finding that out is not likely. can't find anything by googleing except people that want to sell new ones.

I found a fuse connected to the + battery terminal and removed it and it disabled it. So I went ahead and put it back in to see if that did something so we will see.

I would definitely recommend hiring a pro to install a remote starter. They can be very complicated depending on the system and the vehicle.

How much does a car remote starter cost and cost to have installed? Is it really worth it also? I'm down in Oklahoma right now so it's no big deal but I'm moving back up to Iowa the end of February and it might be worth having next winter.

Remote car starters are typically $250-$400 installed depending on what features you get. For instance some remotes are two-way so that you can tell if the car started by looking at the display on the remote. Some systems have better range than others. My parents start their vehicle from their seats in Hilton! If you have to leave your vehicle outside a lot in the winter its probably worth it to get a remote starter. If you leave it in a garage every night probably not so much.

Power locks in a car that doesn't have. I swear I have the only car made after 2000 without any. Wasn't a big deal til I had kids as regular passengers. Now I'd like where I could automatically lock all doors before driving down the road.
