You guys think we can get a video saying "Goodbye" to ISU wrestling. I hear a poster around here has a buddy that makes great ones. Could be really moving/ackward/creepy!

This is better than NEICyFAn's "analysis" (good then + bad now = KJ must go followed by some inaudible grunts) but you have to put everything in the context of who you can get to replace KJ.

Not to pick on you, Psyclone, I am talking to others in the thread. But no one has convinced me that we're better off with Heskett or Perry or Brad Smith, for that matter. Maybe we are, but people are just guessing in this thread. Randall from Boise was the hot name a few years ago and they fell off the map this year. Wrestling is cyclical, even for Iowa and Minnesota. "Hey Joe Heskett, seems like he would be good!" That's no way to run the railroad and I'm sure Pollard isn't going to make a change for the sake of change. If he's confident he can find someone who will do a substantially better job, he should pull the trigger. If not, he will get behind KJ, as he should.

Pick on me all you want; this is a forum!! I may not have said what I wanted to say very well, anyhow. I really hope KJ deals with the issues that hurt us the past few years - like conditioning, injuries, coaching lower weights, depth. If he does, then I think he deserves more time. He has achieved some good recruiting success this year, but my point was there is more to this. I was hugely disappointed when he recruited Voelker as his assistant. No coaching experience, another heavyweight, no recruiting experience, etc. And Voelker left after a year, so he wasn't very committed either. BF said after the season he woul evaluate all aspects of the program now that the season is over and act on the outcome of this evaluation. What has KJ said? What is he doing? Bottom line is I want to see us at least aspire to top 5 in the future; I don't expect us to get there overnight, but I need to see positive movement. Don't know if I said it any better this time, but that's what I was trying to say. And don;t worry what you say; you can't hurt my feelings.

Conditioning is the 2nd most important thing in wrestling, IMO. If his wrestlers are out of condition he should be shown the door now. I thought the KJ hire was a good one at the time, but the program is no on life support.

Sounds like this isn't coming to fruition.

Sammie Henson is coming on board and Yero is moving on. KJ stays.

Don't wish Yero ill will and don't know enough to say the lower weights were his fault, but good to see something being done. Hopefully, we can get some momentum going.

I am more in favor of getting KJ a bigger Assistant budget and improve facilities than canning him. I like his attitude and his Recruiting class this year is excellent. Also, I think with the right kids in the program he will have success.

Not exactly sure.
51, what I was informed of when voelker was hired was that he was there to assist in something. I'm not going to say what that was, because the vultures will twist it and attack. My info said he would only be there a short time and was to address what he was hired for. From what I'm told he did his job and moved on.

Conditioning is important and that is why I would like to see a s and c coach come in or be shared with another to help with this. Look at how many coaches fb, mbb, wbb have and compare those to wrestling and the number of wrestlers kj has. It is tough from that perspective to do all that, kj does a good job of recruiting and am told he is great on the mat, let's help him with his weak areas.

Wait, serious?! that's pretty awesome. I'd take Henson any day. He should be great with the lights. Is there a 100% confirmation on this or word on the street? Henson to work with the lights, getting meeks and bauer to add to the competition in the room. I think that would do wonders already.

Definitely agree with the need for a s&c coach as well. Seems injuries were too rampant this season and we gassed pretty hard a lot of the time.

I may sound dumb with this and ill admit it, but what would the possibility of paying Yancy a little more and have work the wrestlers too? Or is that just a case of having to be in charge of to many guys and wouldnt be possible.

I believe I read somewhere that Sorensen wants to be the S&C coach now that he is graduated. I believe he was a kinesiology major.

Never hurts to keep someone like Sorensen around the program

Wouldn't need him to take on the wrestling guys the way he does the football players. Just mentor our S&C guy, who I think is one of the Paulsens.

Very true. Definitely wouldnt need to be at that level, just would need to be an advisor of some sort.

Seems like a good fit to me. Olympic wrestler, should have a bunch of HS connections as head coach of Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club, was an assistant at Oklahoma so he is not new to recruiting or college wrestling. If this rumor is true, I'm pumped.

So another swing and miss for the prognosticator NEICyFan?

The source of the rumor was a guy on an Iowa board who regularly sends tweets to members of the team calling them *******, mocking them, and generally being mentally unhinged.. And I do mean regularly - multiple times a day, almost every day. He got banned from here but has some obvious alts.

Are you saying NEI's source is unhinged or NEI is? Could be both?

I do feel optimistic about the upcoming season after letting the dust settle from this year. Some good young guys in the room and coming in. Andrew would be a good guy to have for S&C. Not knocking the paulsens, but I don't see Andrew trying out for the olympics so you know he will be around, and with Aaron in the room he would definitely have a vested interest.

No that was not the source but perhaps the info originated from the same person. The Yero part has shown to be correct so that is something. :)

Queso is a major league loser. That is all I will say. If we ignore him he will go away.
