No more band, please!

I don't know about beer barrel, but we played that every game last year too with the old director. I just know that fights comes mostly from above.

Ah, if that's the case then whoever is 'above' needs to stop calling for it as much.

I do agree they play the fight song too much, but don't agree that they should get rid of the band.

I like the band and think they represent a part of college basketball... Plus we have a good pep band so we should show it off... But I also agree that I think fights is overplayed

I think it is time for the band to go bye-bye at basketball games. They don't add anything that the sound system can't do better. In fact, the speakers pump in something and then the band chirps in and kills the enthusiasm.

And they play the fight song so much that people don't even stand for it every time. I went to the ISU-KU game at Phog and they played their fight song TWICE. We play it 6-8 times a game.

Bands were important before sound systems. Just an antique now.

We should also start playing our basketball games outside. It was nice once, but now it's just stuffy and loud. Plus with the milder winters it's no longer necessary to be inside.

I agree with some of you about the fight song. 5 times a game is probably enough. Beer Barrell is fantastic.
I would love to see more of the drum line people that do the "faster" "faster" at the football games. I know they've done it at Hilton before.

Wow i don't get why you would feel the need to post this at this time. Sidenote, the band usually only plays when there is little momentum or crowd energy so i would disagree that it takes away from the game experience in any way. Only adds to it imo

I posted this now because I stand every time they play it and few people were standing around me most of the time. Sad that the crowd can't or won't stand for it but, then again, they only have to wait 4-5 minutes and then have another chance to do it again.

Great game, but really reminded me of OU and constant playing of fight song.

2-22 Texas Tech game, the drumline will perform at halftime!

I so wish we still had negative rep right now. The pep band is one of the things about the gameday atmosphere that I really miss about not being able to attend games anymore. Seriously the pep band has some really great renditions of some great songs. Vehicle by Ides of March, Take on Me by Aha, 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago, all are done really well. In fact I'd probably buy a cd of the pep band playing these songs.

So to the OP, you are a moron and completely incorrect.

This ******* nonsense after a win like today?

Some of you are hopeless...like driving the wrong way down a one way street.

Would you rather I post it after a loss? What difference does it make? Not ripping on anyone. Just wondering if it's time has passed.

Go to a game at another arena. I will bet you they play their fight song less than we do.
