ISU/Iowa Predictions

Iowa State did better than I thought they would. I was not at the dual to really see how our wrestlers did overall. I am glad that Sorenson pulled out a win. I would love to see him beat Taylor in March. Taylor can be beat just ask Bubba Jenkins. I also think that Evans will be in the mix in March as well.

I was just reading the scoring on cyclones.com and saw Iowa was decucted a point after one of their wins. Anyone know what that was about?

One of their guys did their standard "push a guy who is out of bounds several seconds after the whistle" and for once the refs actually called them on it. Glad to see it happen, ussually they get away with that.

It was after the Sorenson-Evans match. They went out of bounds at the end and Evans gave Andrew and extra shove, you know, just to show how much better he was even though he just lost the match. Hawk fans are complaining about how Andrew stalled at the end, even though Evans did nothing but block and tie for essentially the whole match to slow down Sorenson's pace. It was typical Iowa crap and it was nice to see a ref do something about it for once.

All that said, Evans is going to be a really good wrestler. He countered out of a really nice low single shot of Sorenson's that I thought for sure Andrew would finish and you can see that he's comfortable on the mat. Andrew expects to see him again at Midlands, and he expects to widen the gap on him.
