Iowa State team picture

According to hawkeye nation, the more muscular you are the more your shot is thrown off. So I hope the stay really weak and make every shot of the season.

That would likely be true if Royce wasn't shooting while getting stronger. I'm guess he's working on his jumper as much as he is working on his weight training...

I want to see this line up at some point:
Royce 6-8
Babb 6-5
Ejim 6-6
Booker 6-9
Railey 6-11

I just hope Fran is coaching their team to not build muscle in an attempt to shoot better.

That is such a boatload of crap, weight training has and always will be the way to make a basketball player a better athlete and also helps prevent injury. Sprinkle in some plyometrics and lots of flexibility exercises along with shooting and there is no problem.

I think Rashon said he was coming to a game this year because CycloneFanatic pulled through on a vote contest.

He told me he's coming back possibly for the Iowa game if it works out. He's looking for a hotel room. I told him I could pick him up at the DSM airport, if thats where he is flying...

We finally look like a Big 12 basketball team.... Only one white player :). And that white player is one of the best 3 point shooter in the nation!! Team will be tough to stop if they play together. Allen, Christopherson, Babb, Ejim, White. It is setting up for a fun year.

Name a guy with large arms who is an outstanding shooter. I'm not saying you're wrong I just can't think of an example.
Usually great shooters are really lean.

Weight training for muscular size is a lot different than weight training for strength and/or power.

Look at the difference between bodybuilders and olympic weightlifters. When the average person looks at those two, they will assume the bodybuilder is stronger and more powerful, when in reality they are completely wrong.

You can't see strength and power, only size.

agree, this is why I said in a different thread I think Railey will get a lot more time than people think...with Royce playing "point-forward" at times I think we'll need Railey in..if Royce is at PG and Railey and Booker are also in we could run some interesting offensive sets to get SC open and do pick and rolls with Royce.

Definitely interested to see what sets Hoiberg uses with this team
Railey has a future if he can keep his head on straight. He has size and can make the occasional 15 footer. We don't need him to be Dwight Howard, he just needs to get comfortable with his role and he will get minutes.

I think you might be selling Railey a little short. He has shown that he can knock down that 15 foot jumper from the baselines with consistency. If he can refine his game and improve on the defensive side (including not fouling every time), he can turn into a great role player on this team.
