The following schools are now the ones that have to be thinking "oh ****":

South Florida
West Virigina
Louisville
Cincinnati
Rutgers
Connecticut
TCU

3 of them might get Big 12 invites (I predict TCU, USF and Louisville)
West Viriginia "might" get SEC invite
UConn, Rutgers might get ACC invite

That leaves Cincinnati possibly on the outside. If I were them right now, I would be the most concerned about any of the BCS schools.

Selfishly, I want TCU to be on the outside looking in. Bringing them up to a BCS level is only going to make more difficult for Iowa State to recruit Texas.

A&M is as good as gone, make them pay every penny and watch them get pounded in the SEC.

First order of the Big 12 is equal revenue sharing for 1st and 2nd tier rights and at least 50% of 3rd tier rights if not all of them. Exit fees where schools would not even consider to leave would be the next item.

Add BYU, West Virginia and either Louisville or South Florida to get to 12.

Move the conference headquarters to a different part of the country outside of Texas.

Let them keep the conference football championship in Dallas as long as basketball is in Kansas City every year.

Was listening to 810 out of KC and they are very optimistic with this new news. Said Beebe leaving will not be an issue. Beebe wants to see the conference survive and he will leave on his own no problem if that is what it takes. Also thought Joe Castiglione might be the new B12 commish (would be great...old Big 8 guy!!) or at least interim one.

They didn't think Joe Castiglione might be the new commish, they just said it seemed like a good idea.

Good post. I agree with you except that we heard today that WV will not get a SEC invite. I think IF the Big 12 stays together and adds 3, it adds WV, USF, and Louisville.

That is why I put "might" in quotes. Will SEC change their minds if Big 12 stays together? Will they try to get WVU or Louisville quickly before both join Big 12?

I think it's in ISU's best interest to add the best schools available. A better conference equals better competition and more national awareness. What will help ISU the most directly, is more money for the Athletic Department. Better facilities, better amenities will make for an improved product and greater fan base, which in turn makes ISU a more valuable program.

I could live with leaving BYU out and adding WVU, L'ville and USF. They just seemed like a popular choice from the start of all of this.

Kind of funny, how all of a sudden it looks like the coin is flipping and we go from ******** about how it's all about money, to saying we need to bring in the teams with the most money. It wouldn't bother me at all for the possible Big XII to grab someone based on the Quality of the School as opposed to the number of TV sets it brings to the table.

I get that people like USF for market and recruiting, but I think you're asking for trouble adding a school that would be that far out on an island by themselves. It's the same thing we've all sat here and criticised the Pac-12 and OU for.

TCU is unwanted by everyone. We dont need a school with 7k undergrads that sits in the middle of an area we've got completely covered tv-wise that just happens to have some tv recognition right now because theyve been good at football recently. They'll just diminish the pie for everyone else. And according to that estimate of fanbase sizes in the US, TCU would still fall below everyone else but baylor.. and thats despite all their success. What happens when they lose Patterson or they fall off due to not having as easy of schedules every year?

Florida gets us into florida markets. It cant hurt florida recruiting. And who knows, maybe it might help the b12 get some florida bowl ties again.

Yeah...never been a fan of adding USF unless we take all the BE schools.

If we go to 12, I think best guess is Louisville, BYU, TCU. I think the SEC will reconsider on WVU because I don't see anyone else going there and I don't believe they will leave it at 13 members.

I think that 50% of 3rd tier money is a lot to ask. I'd be happy with 25%. Honestly, ISU does not DESERVE an equal share of LHN revenues unless it is a Big 12 Network. I think that 25% to 33% is palatable to UT and sharing the 1st and 2nd tier rights equally is great for everyone...surprised the OU is pushing this agenda since they voted AGAINST equal revenue sharing at every opportunity.

Once the bylaws are set, then they need to decide what they're going to do with membership. There's going to be a bunch of Big East schools out waiting to be snatched. Just BYU? Or BYU, WVU and USF? Or WVU, USF and Louisville?

This is right on - Houston makes much more sense than SMU or TCU - Houston is not necessarily a true Big 12 city - between Houston, Rice and the NFL, the BCS is just not as big there. It might increase interest if a local team was in a BCS conference - Dallas is right between Austin and Norman - so they get inundated with fans and the Red River Rivalry gives college football a showcase right in the middle of the Texas State Fair.

Houston is a MUCH better choice than any DFW school, especially with A&M leaving - that was the closest one to Houston.
