QB Camp: Ryan Mallett - ESPN Video - ESPN

Watching that video makes me want Mallett. He talks about that one play and all the reads and options forever!

What exactly did Mallett do specifically to get in everyones doghouse?

watch the Sugar Bowl and see how he reacts when he gets blitzed. Also, he skipped a meeting with the Panthers because he went out and got drunk the night before. Also, he's had problems with drugs.

I don't want Mallett at all, or Netwon for that matter. Very talented guys, but the off the field/mental stuff is too much. I've seen scenarios that have Gabbert falling to 12, although I think that is really unlikely. If Minnesota somehow grabbed him, I would be overjoyed. I'm really warming to the idea of Locker as well, although I don't think they'll be able to trade down much if they want to get him. I don't think he'll make it past the 20th pick. I would honestly be ok if they used a 1st rounder on Locker and then went DE or OT with the 2nd round pick, or vice versa and nabbed Jordan at DE in the 1st and a guy like Ponder, Dalton, or Kaepernick in the second round.

Or, say, Ricki Stanzi? :wideeyed:

The guys over at PFT are reporting that the Vikes may take Dalton at 12. They think that seven QBs will be taken in the first 45 picks.

Sorry I can't post the link but my work computer occasionally blocks that site. It's at www.profootballtalk.com if you want to track it down.

Honestly…I just wish I was excited about the Vikes at this point.

I’m really not and I know this is horrible to say, but the lockout/strike doesn’t even bother me that much. I’m just not that optimistic given the current QB situation. You can’t draft a QB and expect anything his first or second year (with rare exceptions). How much tread is going to be left on AP’s tires in three years? I definitely don’t want them to trade for McNabb to try and quick fix (even though I was a Favre backer).

If someone can make me feel more optimistic about the near term possibility for success of this team, I’m all “ears”.

If I thought the panthers might pick me I'd get drunk too.....

Anyway I think in the 2nd round he would be an absolute steal.

Honestly, what bad could happen in Minneapolis? It's not like people take boats out on lakes and falsely imprison strippers and hookers on them.

The draft just really sucks this year in my opinion. The teams couldn't trade players, especially quarterbacks, or able to sign any players. This handcuffs the teams that wanted like Kolb, or another quarterback. This lockout really sucks, and it will be harder for players to make a difference this year because they can't even get a playbook when they get drafted. Sorry I am really hating this year with being a Viking's fan and having a new coach basically, new playbooks, just hurts a lot with the lockout.

I'll be happy if they just make the selection before the time limit exprires. :skeptical:

Peterson goes to Arizona. So Gabbert to the Vikes?
With Arizona and San Fransisco both passing on QB's, Gabbert may just fall to the Vikes. I have my fingers crossed that Washington doesn't take him. As a Vikings fan, I would gladly take Gabbert with the 12th pick.

Jacksonville trades up to Washington's spot. Looks like Gabbert is a Jaguar.

GAH!

I wouldn't hate Robert Quinn. He'd be a nice replacement for Edwards
