Rhoads/FB Projects

Calm down, it was said during a Gridiron Club meeting last night while PR was giving his speech and Pollard was standing next to him. Suprised it took this long to hit CF to be honest.

This is both inappropriate and totally appropriate at the same time.

I see no reason to add more seats to JTS, we can't even fill up what we have now and the new endzone would add a lot more seats that we would NOT be able to fill up.

The construction on the south end zone and the new FB building (weights, offices) will begin after this upcoming season. Somehow, I guess, the FB building be attached to Bergstrom. Rhoads said it very straightly and confidently, and apparently it sounded like a done deal. He didn't go into much detail or specifics on either project (such as if it will be double-deck or not, etc.) but he did reveal this info.

Also reiterated that the new scoreboard this year will be done by the fall.

Great news.
Yup they said this last night according to the fam.

Been over this already... bowling in isnt about 'adding seats' its about converting grass seats into physical seats.

If this is true, i'm thankful for whoever 'wrote the check'.

The south endzone project won't add that many more seats. It will just make the place look more "big-time".

Oh, I'm quite calm, but speculation about this project has been posted on here as fact a couple of times only to be a red herring. I wanted confirmation before people got way out of hand.

Even if there is a second deck on the south end zone increasing seating capacity it is not a big deal if all seats are not sold. No one is going to be in those seats during junior days where prospects now won't look at bleachers but an actual horseshoe!!!

Same goes for recruiting visits on non game days. The South End Zone and Football Complex will do AWESOME things for recruiting. I'm not saying CPR and staff are going to land a serious amount of 4 stars but now at least CPR and his staff are recruiting on more equal ground.

This is the first time Rhoads or Pollard has let a specific date appear in public though. Also to a group of donors at that. There's probably a lot of smoke in this one.

How did this not get posted here or on CR within like 5 minutes of CPR saying it? If true possibly the biggest news to come out of the department in quite some time.

Chris, you heard anything on this?

Yep.. if youre around ames, several times, even during the offseason, you'll see the place lit up like a christmas tree, empty, for recruits. A bowled in stadium will impress much more than what we currently have.
