Who will replace Brandtner?

Daniel Kuehl.

I'll wait for the season to get closer. My money is still on Kuehl or Guyer to be the punter over Kirby. Sorry I'm not willing to throw my money and confidence on a kid whos barely been punting...

Have either of you seen Kuehl kick? Zach hasnt punted in 3 years. Kirby is our best option and will be the punter next year. This isnt a David Sims type "rumor". I'm telling you, Kirby will be the punter...take it to the bank...count on it...no doubt about it...whatever saying you would like.

it seems that cybyassociation is pretty confident KVK will be the starter.

ok i believe you

Okay so when Kuehl is the stater this fall, what will you be saying? Nothing is in the bank, for certain, not even throughout the season. But your post is laughable.

For this reason, I wish we could make personal CyBookie bets between users.

I really dont see why your getting all into trying to force your opinion on ones that differ. Maybe he will start maybe he wont.... I'm sticking to my opinion, and what anything you say wont change that. But continue on.

I coached Kirby in his early HS days with punting techniques. He's a great kid with a strong leg who is also very coachable. I don't think he can fill in directly for brandtner, but has a shot to be better than Mike in a couple years. As long as he doesn't fumble snaps or shank one in a bad position he will be just fine.

But can he scamper 20 yds on a direct snap?

coach cpr offered kirby v.c. a schollie last summer in the summer football camps.i should think they must have thought a lot about kirby's ability to offer him a punting schollie.i should think kirby will be the punter.the big problem may be in the deep snapper.is our deep snapper returning. a confident deep snapper makes up for much
confidence in the rest of the special punting teams.

Has ISU ever had truly solid special teams specialists (PK/P/KR/PR) in the same season?

There have been good players at those positions, but it would be fun to have a lot of those players at their peak and playing simultaneously for a couple of seasons.

Special teams: Underrated.
Iowa State has never put an emphasis on special teams. No matter who was leading the program. Special teams cost this team the Kansas and Kansas State games last year.

Really? It wasnt a 50+ yard touchdown pass on 3rd and long that did it at K-State? Or the lack of defense at Kansas? These are just two of multiple examples from each game. Coach Rhoads said it best at Nebraska, it takes a team to win. It also takes a team to lose. Using your logic, it was special teams that won the game at Nebraska.

I think Guyer would be a decent punter, but he is more of a kicker than a punter.
With that being said, Kirby is the best punter I've seen in person so I think that job is his. If he has a decent LS and protection, he should be booming punts regularly for the next 4 years. He may need to work on his accuracy alittle, but the power is there.
