He has signed with Indiana St. but their coach is fired so he has an option to leave. I know from a very reliable source that McDermott is trying to free up a scholarship and if someone transfers he is going to offer Vette.

Clayton was 1st team all state for two yrs.

in a nutshell, if you haven't seen him play or know him he:

plays with his head, takes a lot of charges, rebounds like a machine, can bring the ball up the court, hit three's, dunk's the crap out of the ball, moves extremely well, has terrific hands, is a team player, mentally tough, very nice kid off the court.

I had the opportunity to watch Waverly Shell Rock a couple of times this year. Clayton is a nice player, but I think that athletically he is more in tune with the Missouri Valley type player.

Look at it this way, he lives 15 miles from UNI, and they didn't recruit him that hard there. He is not as good of a prospect as the kid from Johnston, Barsz I think is his name, and Greg recruited him (getting a committment as a junior).

I am not slamming Clayton, he is a nice player, but I don't see him as a Big 12 caliber athlete.

A friend of mine asked him if he had thought about ISU, and he said he's not a fan of McDermott, then proceeded to call him a derogatory name.

and that's not some friend asking some friend of a friend like crosscyed is saying. (not being mean here, just making a point that I know this above statement to be 100% accurate)

Maybe Clayton had a change of heart. I think he was upset when McDermott didn't show a ton of interest when he was at UNI. He offered Barz at the time.

I am pretty sure that Greg is not coming with an offer. If he didn't offer when he was 15 miles away when he was coaching a mid major college, he probably is not going to offer him now when he coaches in the Big 12. He offered Barz, and I am thinking that he would offer him at Iowa State, but I don't think that Clayton will ever be a Cyclone. I hope he figures out where he is going, and has a good career there.

As far as i've seen ISU can and will do better then Vette. If this is the best Iowa can produce for talent i don't care if we EVER have one person from iowa on our roster...
