Saw a Vinfast. Didn’t even know what it was which was pretty rare for me.

"“Only 18% of EV owners would consider a gas or hybrid today, and that’s down from 73% a year ago.”

I’ve seen two now. One in Los Angeles last year sometime, and one in Sarasota, FL a couple weeks ago. They look ok, but the reviews are not good.

I saw one in Chicago a couple of weeks ago, and that's the first time in probably a decade that I didn't know the vehicle i was looking at until I got close enough to read the brand, and still didn't know anything about it.

I think that math changes a lot when I decide I'm getting a new vehicle anyway but I'm not planning on that for another 5 or 6 years. I'm hoping there will be more BEV options for a truck than the Rivian when that time comes. The Scout looks really good I think on paper and with what I know to be coming to market in the next couple years it's at the top of my list.
Have you checked out the Silverado EV or Sierra EV? I have the Silverado EV and love it.

Looked up vinfast Vietnamese EV company. Bad thing is the range 250 and 330. The 330 would be ok but 250 seems pretty short to me.

jalopnik isn't even worth the scrap it's written on now. it's trash compared to it's former self.
They were ok for a while after the Hulk Hogan vs Gawker lawsuit but the last 12-18 months I'd agree. I still read their morning news rundown but that's the one article a day that's occasionally interesting.

Can't even remember the last time I've read one of their articles. Thankfully the OPPO community still lives on on FB.

Another positive study:

"To get these numbers, researchers gathered responses from 4,205 participants between January 21 and March 31, 2026. The group included 3,809 current electric car drivers. The questionnaire asked people what they would purchase next, offering a clear look at owner loyalty after years of real-world use. As a result, nearly 90% of respondents plan to immediately buy another fully electric car, and 5.5% want a plug-in hybrid. Those two groups combine to 95.3% of owners choosing to stick with a battery-powered model."

"How do these cars hold up over time? A large number of drivers say their electric vehicle beats an equivalent gasoline car on practical metrics. For instance, nearly 73% rate their electric car as more reliable than a gas version, and fewer than 5% feel the opposite. Drivers report the cars are cheaper to fuel and easier to maintain. Many owners find them more enjoyable to drive. Over time, loyalty appears to grow stronger as drivers spend more years with the technology. Among people who bought their first electric car in 2020 or earlier, 96.7% are likely to pick another one for their next purchase. Tesla owners reported near-identical loyalty at 96.6%."
