Milan Momcilovic commits to Kentucky

A new land rover and 7 mil will ease the pain but he is still at a soulless team where if things do not go well the team and the fans will be screaming waste of money at all of them.
It's like 10 months. He's grown up enough to withstand it, and to understand what it means for his (and his family's) future.

He can play for a soulful team at the YMCA anytime he wants after that.

Uh we did had a dude named Matt Abdelmassih who cheated with the best of them. And Wayne Morgan. Everyone knows the story of Tinsley driving an Escalade while in school. I have a buddy who bought shoes from one of our all time favorites while still in school which was against the rules at the time. To act like we're above others is just ignorant.
What happened to Matt and Wayne? Are they still with ISU, or were they shown the door?

It's hard to turn down 6.5 mil. But imagine going from Otz and Iowa State, to what he's going to get with the environment at UK

The UK signing helps his pocket book- but going to the BYU of the SEC dies not help Milan's draft stock. His draft stock is hurt by his lack of defense and that is not going to improve under Mark Pope.

"Hunting your shot" is a hard thing to do when you can't dribble. I'm sure TJ told him the same thing too from an aggressiveness standpoint. But when you are catch-and-shoot there's not a ton you can do to be more aggressive. You're either open or you aren't.

Momcilovic did a solid job putting ball on the floor this past season vs. his frosh/soph years. Kid works his game and improves y-o-y. He was a solid Cyclone and sounds like TJ & Momcilovic were very clear with each other when Momcilovic looked at the NBA what his future as a Cycone was.

New era of college hoops and players get paid to play. So why shouldn't a 20ish kid jump for a bigger paycheck. People on this board do it all the time in their jobs! And most people on this board aren't looking at a multi-million dollar bump over their current situation!

Kentucky has had their struggles since Pope was hired. But Pope's system could be a good fit for Momcilovic with more motion, cutting & screens in halfcourt offense.

I was hoping Mommy would have played faster (Richie Saunders).... Mommy could have got off more shots with some more speed, like Saunders did.

Pope telling him a certain percentage is a failure is ******* stupid.
I interpret Pope's comment as just another way of saying to shoot more. Most players will shoot a lower percentage if they shoot more because they're likely taking more contested shots, shots off the dribble, etc. I hope Milan does well.

Ok, but he had the 4th most attempts in all of college basketball last year. 2nd most at the high major level. Only Honor Huff of West Virginia had more at the high major level.

What are we talking about? Saunders attempted 170 3’s in 25 games. 6.8 attempts per game. Milan attempted 279 3’s in 37 games. 7.5 attempts per game.

I guess Saunders did have slightly more field goal attempts, in general, per game (12 FGa/game vs 11 for Milan), but he also averaged more minutes per game.

It's just coach speak. TJ was trying to get Milan to shoot as much as possible too. He had the green light to shoot whenever he wanted. Pope is trying to do the same thing with a little different message. At the end of the day it's up to Milan to pull the trigger. Not everything that Pope and Milan says this year is some kind of referendum on what Milan did at ISU.

If he shot more people would say he didn't care about his teammates or Hy-Vee on Lincoln Way.

I also love when people treat college sports and strategy like it's 5th grade rural Iowa league 1994.

'Get open and shoot more!!!' hahaha.

Matt wrote checks to players, Wayne had an in with 1 of the 5 families. Of course no, but they were employed under JP.

I mean, putting any kind of responsibility on JP for Wayne Morgan is pretty silly. He fired him within six months of getting the job at ISU.

Correct. Milan was absolutely freaking fantastic last year. Overall, he was factually very clutch and level'd up in every way he could have. Last season will be objectively remembered as one of the greatest shooting seasons in CBB history.

I hope Milan's season will be remembered as one of the greatest shooting seasons ever. Unfortunately, it seems that some can't talk about his season without making reference to his sub-par performance under very difficult conditions in the Tennessee game. Yes, I wish he had gone on a scoring rampage like at the end of the first half of the Kentucky game (quite ironic now), but I will consider myself to have been very fortunate to be able to see Milan's epic season. It is going to be fun to talk about it years from now after no one comes close to his performance for a few decades.

This. We can’t spend the next 9 months butthurt over every little thing that Pope or Milan says, and regard it as a slight against ISU or TJ.

It’s basic coach speak media interview type stuff. I
